Just wanted to check - is there anything I may not know about that I might want to check out as a new DVC member staying at DVC for the first time this summer?

Thanks.

The best DVC perk is being able to buy an annual pass with a $100 discount. Since we usually get two one-week trips out of one annual pass, the cost per day becomes extremely low ($446/14 = $32 a day).

The best part about having an annul pass is the freedom it gives you. You never feel like you "wasted a day" as you might with a regular park-hopper. If you only want to be in a park for Illuminations one day no problem... you are not using up a limited number of days on your pass for just an hour or so in the parks.

Congrats gardenrooms on being a dvc member!
I am waiting until I move in with my boyfriend and then I can become a member.
Waiting for our house to be added on too. It may take a year.

Thanks seafairy. I'm a little nervous about how I'll like it. I am used to staying at the regular hotels and having more flexibility, but in 3 visits at current prices this will pay for itself, so hopefully all will go well. (I would have gone a week earlier if I were staying at a hotel but couldn't get the DVC I wanted at that time - just 1 day was not available which threw out a whole 10 day vacation!)

Hi and welcome to DVC. I have been a member since 2001 and still find it confusing. I just want to recommend Mousesavers.com for their section on DVC in the - Other Disney Vacations. Seems to explain a lot altho it needs to be updated.
Have you registered as a member on http://www.DVCMember.com
I guess you can book online now! I was able to grab one night at BLT during Easter Week just to use up remaining points.

Thank you Mickeymouseclub. I excited. Will have to check with DH if he registered and will definitely check out Mousesavers. Have looked there for other things but not this for some reason.

I actually made our first reservations by phone because I had so many questions and am glad I did because DH was interpreting the info all wrong and in a way that would have worked against us.

I am the only one that halfway understands DVC guidelines in my family. I also just found this link http://www.DVCNews.com
