Someone mentioned looking right out on a giraffe, but the menu looks rather boring. The lunch with an animal specialist looks kind of fun, though. We'll be staying a couple of nights at AKL this summer. Has anyone done this? Worth it or not? Regular menu okay or not? (We will be eating at Boma also which we really like.) Thanks.

I have only been for appetizers in the evening. They were very good, and the setting (while dark) was quite nice. A better view than Jiko or Boma, that's for sure!

I had dinner there a few years ago, and it was nice. We were in a booth on the back wall, so we didn't have much of a view of the animals (it was a round booth so we all faced toward the windows, they were just far away) but the atmosphere was quite nice. I don't know what the menu is like now, since we were there shortly after it opened, but it had a lot of interesting food without being too exotic. I'm about as boring of an eater as there is, and I liked a lot of stuff they had.

Is it worth taking time out of your vacation to go? Maybe, it depends what you're interested in, and where you're staying. If it's convenient or you're particularly interested, definitely give it a shot. I wouldn't plan my entire vacation around it, but it is a very nice break from the parks, and an experience that you really can't find in a lot of places.

I was just there. DH and I also love Boma. I was looking out three windows at two zebras and a crane and two giraffes, and I wasn't even at a table next to the windows. There would have been more options if I liked spicy foods, and I've heard great things about the breads. I didn't try the breads because I was alone and had a cold. I did like my cocktail and my chicken tandoori and the dessert sampler a lot! I plan for us to go next trip, and to Boma too. I don't know about the animal specialist, sorry.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like it might make a farewell lunch at AKL the day we move to the Beach Club. We are trying to really enjoy DAK the days we stay there.

I was the one eating with giraffes and zebras! Well, there was glass in the way :( If you like spicy and flavorful food then Saana's food is far from boring.

Super! It's on our list to reserve! What a fun last morning/afternoon at AKL. Thanks everyone.
