| WilliamK99 Thu 11/8/2012 7:00p | I wanted another thread so we can freely discuss this movie without spoiling it for anyone..
Did anyone catch the Konami Code part of the movie? Nearly every male my age in the theatre started cracking up, I had to explain it to my kids and wife but thought it was a great little Easter Egg for children of the 80's.
Also, my second favorite part was Tapper when the bartender excused himself from Ralph and delivered Root Beer to everyone in the bar, I loved how they cut to the 8 bit game, thought that was a neat touch...
A week later and I still can't get over how much fun I had watching that movie... |

Did you see Pong making his way through Game Central?
AND... the press kit we received at the premiere gave a credit for Dig Dug, Pooka and Fygar, but I did not see them. Anyone know when they turn up in the film? |

You'll have to explain it to me too. |

That was the code the King plugged into the original Nintendo controller to access the Sugar Rush Game Code. "Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start" was a code burned into the memory of all kids in the 80s/90s who played Contra on the original NES.
Pushing that sequence of buttons on the controller before starting the game allowed you to get 30 lives instead of the usual 3. (I think - it's been a LONG time!) |

Pipeters explained it well, but basically it is the world's most famous cheat code. If you were a kid in the 80's/ early 90's, you knew that code. This was before the Internet, yet every kid knew it through school yard chatter. |

There was a huge cheer from everyone in the theatre when this happened. Followed by the chatter of a bunch of kids asking their parents what just happened. It was awesome ! |

| Witches of Morva Sat 11/10/2012 5:45a | ORWEN: Us Cauldron girls conjured up this movie inside our crystal ball last night and came away unsure how to relate to the whole thing. We didn't think it was good or bad--just something that we could take or leave. Maybe it's too modern for us. Too much modern slang and we like more period piece stories that don't remind us of the current, modern world. We like to be taken away to that 'Once Upon a Time' place that is so different from what's going on now. So, Wreck it Ralph just didn't do that for us.
ORDDU: Every time we saw that King of Candy we were reminded of Ed Wynn who played the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. Were any of the rest of you ducklings reminded of him too? |
