It's a downright shame the witch isn't making an appearance in the new attraction.

ORWEN: Thank you for your interest in witches, HauntedMansionFan, duckling. For obvious reasons, I have an interest in witches, too. But don't give up hoping. Us cauldron girls were talking to some Imagineers way back whenever and they hinted that the evil queen may make a cameo appearance in the ride after all. She may show up as the old hag or could show up as the queen. We don't know for sure.

<<Wise decision Hokie, although I'm going to go there and say it will be a major loss if the swinging cars have been axed.>>

The cars are still due to rock from side to side - it is a gentle effect.

<<Well, if I was trying to generate excitement for something then I'm not sure releasing this video is the approach I would take.>>

It has been made and released to justify the large payroll costs of WDW Media Relations. These nonsense sizzle reels used to be few and far between until a few years ago and now they seem to be drip-fed through the blog and Youtube on a regular basis.

I hate seeing this pre-viz stuff out there - it isn't appropriate for public consumption - there is absolutely no point trying to build fake buzz over a year out from opening. The problem is that WDW has nothing to trumpet for 2013 at the moment.

<<I would hope there are at least several more indoor scenes, and that the animatronics have better movement than the "head nod, arm swing" of those dwarf mannequins in this video. >>

This attraction has been an Orphan Annie for years. Eric Jacobson proposed it nearly a decade ago for his far superior FLE and it had multiple show scenes and was a longer expansion. When TOS decided to kill Jay's beloved M&Gs he needed something quick and this was the first thing that could fit that space and vaguely fit the mission statement.

<<Is this an off-the-shelf coaster?>>

Yes and no. The layout is slightly tweaked from other mine train coasters out there but all of the tech has come from a recognizable coaster manufacturer. Much like how Expedition Everest and Grizzly at HKDL are standardized Vekoma coasters with client-specific tweaks.

"The problem is that WDW has nothing to trumpet for 2013 at the moment."

It's 3 weeks before 2013 and the FLE and the revamped Test Track officially opened a few days ago. Wouldn't they be the things to trumpet for 2013? It's not like they have much time left to boast about them as 2012 changes/additions.
