Did anyone watch the parade today. And what did you think

I never watch the parade because they spend too much time with the celebrities and not enough time showing the parks and very little time with the parade. I usually go to you tube and watch the parade.

I worked for a ABC affiliate for 16 yrs. I think the 1st 10 years were live for about 10 yrs after that they started taping it. Im must be getting older. I tried to watch. But I didn't know or care for any of the so called celebrities. And it seem like a 2 hr commercial for me.

This is it in a nutshell. Today's broadcast was mostly terrible and a painfully obvious staged event. Watching the hosts pretend to swoon over Disney Channel "stars" and costumed princes and princesses was horribly awkward to watch. The gospel finale in front of Cinderella Castle was really good though and reminded me why WDW's castle is superior to DL's.

ORWEN: Actually, there wasn't ENOUGH coverage of the Princesses and Princes--or any other Disney character. It was all about promoting singing careers along with the latest teen heart throbs, etc. I get tired of conjuring up these Disney Christmas programs inside the Crystal ball any more because they're all so disappointing. The parade is treated like a side dish while the rock stars are treated like the main event. If I wanted to hear rock music or country music singers I'd go to one of their concerts. I'd much rather see more coverage of the Disney theme parks!

I don't think it matters if I liked it or not. My kids liked it and I'm guessing they are the target market.

You know things are bad when you're cringing while watching the broadcast. Something about those grinning emasculated princes wearing buoyant wigs waving from my living room television gave me the creeps. With a few exceptions Disney Parks has pretty much given up on appealing to adults and yesterday's presentation was overly saccharine, even for Disney. If I hadn't grown up with the "old" Disney I'd have no interest in the parks now.

Dr. You are correct. I'm glad I got to experience the parks during the 80's. That was when Eisner was in charge. Sad thing I want to go back. But they offer me nothing as an adult. I do enjoy Universal though.
I went to Hawaii. I know not many people get to go there. Gut it was a dream come true. No lines of kids screaming or worn out adults trying to live their lives thru their children. Just 8 days of bliss. Sorry WDW till you realizes who is paying for all these trips. And you add something new for adults and make it worth my money. I foresee not going back for a long time. The other thing is I spent less for the Hawaii trip stayed at a 5 star Marriott and in a villa, Round trip airfare and a rental car for 8 days plus a helicopter tour of Oahu for 2 people. For a total cost of $4000.00! I have to admit though my partner works for Marriott. Thats why such a great price. We stayed right next to Aualani. I checked their prices for what we paid . And for a suite they wanted at least that much or more for just the total cost of the whole trip. Disney is overrated for me right now. Please Disney. Bring back some sanity.
