Topic: Fast Pass return times reinforced?

They have intermittently enforced the return times at DL - usually when they're hitting capacity and the waits are getting NUTS. It's been in the chatter for ages that they'll go to enforcing them all the time, but it still hasn't happened yet.

Has anyone at DL actually been told they can't enter the line because the fp has expired? Once on a very busy day we got "frowned upon" and told we were supposed to come back within the one-hour window, but then we were let in anyway. I thought that was "unofficial official" DL policy - cm's have to be told from on high how to handle that. They can't just enforce or not enforce at their own discretion, can they? Anyone?

Don't get me wrong, it is still WAY less convenient to have to worry about your fast pass return time. At least there are apps for WDW that tell you what the current return time range is. If the return time is a time you don't want (maybe you have a dining reservation or a show or something) you don't have to trek all the way over to the ride to find that out. Still no where near as convenient as it is that you can return at any time AFTER your time. You can't really park hop using FP like you could in the past (which is more common at DL than WDW but still used to be possible at WDW but not with enforced return times).

I was just saying that I was really dreading the fp return time enforcement at WDW but, for us, it didn't turn out to be nearly as bad as I expected.

>>We come from out of town and this is our vacation so it would really put a damper on it if we have to be on a set schedule for return times.<<

You're still missing the point of Fastpass. It was never designed for YOUR convenience. It's there to manage the queues, and to put more customers into stores and restaurants instead of standing in lines. If you don't like the terms, then don't use it.

Heads up: When we were there last week, multiple times when we used our fastpasses after the fastpass time window, we were told that they would allow it now but that "We will have to begin enforcing fastpass times as shown on the ticket, starting next month."

More than one cast member said this, at different locations. Each time they stated: starting next month. There were no signs up saying this but I felt it was too much of a coincidence (the "next month" comment) and thought I should mention it here.

Yep - I'd imagine they're gearing up for the spring break crowds. Weeee! *LOL*

@mawnck - I'm not missing the point. It is supposed to be for MY convenience. Who made you the authority on its use. No wonder Darkbeer and a lot of the others left this site. Rude people like you.

Well, folks, it has come to pass. As of February 18, DLR WILL be enforcing fastpass return times. The CM's were starting to warn folks, and I finally got one to give me the date. There ya go.

*LOL* Yeah, my reaction is basically "good! Now they'll work as designed, and make the lines better for everyone in the long run." Too many folks saved them up for the busy times of the day, and then piled into the lines later in the day / evening. It means if you get one first thing in the morning, you're going to have to use it or lose it. 8)
