Last year i was at the Magic Kingdom for NYE and this year it was Disneyland. My husband and i both get over a week off for Christmas and like to make the most of it by going somewhere. On both trips NYE was our last day and all we wanted was to ride a few last things before our trip and have nothing to do with the celebrations. This year at Disneyland there were people sitting on the ground all day, food lines must have been a good hour to get a burger, and the only washroom i could get in was critter country. I really cant understand why anyone living in the area would want to put up with that hell and think of it as a good time? we are planning to be at WDW next year for Christmas and planning on coming back home for NYE.

Decades ago, NYE at Disneyland was a private limited ticket. I haven't gone since they've opened it to the general public and nothing short of a million dollars would motivate me to go.

If i really wanted to go i would rather pay an additional fee.

Exactly. The crowds were manageable and they set up a big stage at the end of Main Street in front of the Hub with some B list headliner performance and a midnight countdown. The one time I went it rained lightly, but we had a good time. I don't recall the year, but I think it was in the early 80s.

Most people regret somethign they did on New Years Eve. For a lot of people, it's drinking too much at the party or kissing the wrong person at midnight; for about 45,000 lucky guests each year, it's making the decision to go to DL that day.

That sounds like a nice time, too bad it has changed.

LOL, this is the second year i have been to a Disney park over Christmas and the other days are busy, but we still manage to do everything we want too. Not being able to use a washroom is nuts.

I was in the MK one NYE back in the 90s and I was told there were 90,000 people in the park. I'm sure that is pretty accurate because most of them stepped on my toes at one time or another.

We hardly rode a thing and spent a number of hours in front of the castle waiting until midnight. The energy from 11pm-12am was electric. Comparable to Times Square I would imagine (without the liquor). So, it was a great time but I'm pretty sure I would never do it again.

My brother and his kids spent NYE at the Disney Studios Park just a few days ago. He said that while it was interesting that they wouldn't do it again because of the crowds. They were in town for a youth soccer tournament.

Must have been a big tournament. Some of our local teams were playing up there too.
