Yes, it seems pretty clear that NexGen is more about enhancing Disney revenues than improving the experience of the average guest. After over 20 years of at least yearly visits to WDW and spending close to $100K there during that time (not including my purchases of DVC points), Disney is apparently deciding I'm not good enough for them. Well the heck with them! They are not good enough for me!!!

|I leave for WDW tomorrow morning, and what I've seen of the NextGen stuff so far (online reservation system that connects everything together) makes me think that it won't make it's way to DL, and won't last at WDW very long into 2014. They still can't communicate clearly what exactly they want it to be, and their infrastructure can't handle the simplest things. I know it's not fully rolled out yet, but I forsee huge problems when they finally try to do it. I think this will end up being Iger's "Go.com"|
Hopefully I'll have some more insight as to what the system is currently capable of after I get back!

They have been working on the NextGen stuff for over 10 years. While it is being brought out to the public on Iger's watch it was not his idea.
I'm willing to take a wait and see view of NextGen to see how it works. Based on the information on hand I'm afraid that it's going to blow up in WDW's face, but I might not have all the information.

Isn't that always the reason? They didn't build Cars Land just because they thought it would cute.

I understand that. But wouldn't a better way to grow revenues be by designing new attractions and better maintaining the ones they have? It sure seemed to grow revenues at DCA!!
I don't need CM in the parks addressing me by name. I don't want my access to dining times or fast-pass dependent upon my purchasing a premium hotel package. If they want to do that just go the Universal route and charge for head-of-the-line passes.
It just has started to seem like WDW keeps charging more and more for the same old tired product. They have about priced themselves out of the market as far as I'm concerned. Between park tickets, dining and hotel expense (even with DVC I figure my maintenance charges cost me over $150 a day), I figure a day at WDW costs me close to $500 and it just isn't really worth it anymore.
