| AussieDisneyFan Mon 12/29/2003 3:09a | Lucius threw him a sock which Harry had deliberately place in a book |

| Mr X Mon 12/29/2003 5:44p | Wait a minute, that IS correct if you go by what happened in the movie.
What is the rule here, if something happened slightly differently from book to movie? |

| AussieDisneyFan Tue 12/30/2003 2:48a | my second answer is that he placed the sock around the book and then gave it to Malfoy who took it off and threw it and Dobby caught it. |

| FaMulan Tue 12/30/2003 10:30a | I generally go by the books when I ask or answer questions.
I'll give it to Aussie, but, this is what happened in the book:
Harry takes the Diary of Tom Riddle from Dumbledore's office (with the headmaster's permission), he places his sock INSIDE the book and gives it to Lucius Malfoy, who throws the book containing the sock to Dobby, thereby freeing him.
