Long before Michael J. Fox, Eddie Murphy and even Robin Williams, Disney was using recognizable celebrities to voice characters. Who was the first big-name celebrity in a Disney animated feature?

Cliff Edwards aka "Ukelele Ike" as Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio?

OK, brotherdave, I have to give it to you. I did some research on the internet and found the following:

With his cheery tenor voice and ever-present ukulele, Cliff "Ukelele Ike" Edwards was a major vaudeville star of the 1920s who branched out into record-making (selling a reported 74 million discs). He introduced such songs as "Fascinating Rhythm" and "Toot, Toot, Tootsie! (Goo'bye)," and scored his biggest record hits with the chart-toppers "I Can't Give You Anything but Love" and "Singin' in the Rain" but it was as the voice of Jiminy Cricket in the animated film Pinocchio, singing "When You Wish upon a Star," that he achieved immortality.

I did not know he had been such a major star in the 20's and early 30's.

Prior to Dumbo (sorry Kar2oonMan) but after Pinocchio came a little movie called Fantasia. In post #55, the first sentence was a red herring. The question did not ask "Who was the first big-name celebrity whose voice was used in a Disney animated feature?" I intended the answer to be Leopold Stokowski. I would have also accepted Mickey Mouse.

Kudos!
