As I understand, the 24 hour rule is as such.

After an answer is confirmed correct, the person who was correct has 24 hours to post a new question or forfeit their turn.

Now, to avoid a topic dying out, just keep guessing & if you don't get a response within a few days, just post a question to the original poster asking them basically what's up. If no response after another 24 hours, I think that would be fair game for whoever wants to ask the next question.

Does this make any sense? I hope that my assumption is correct. We all need to be courteous to other LP'ers & those who don't have the luxury of posting every day.

Yes, and quite a bit of time has passed since then. I really don't see what the fuss is about. I'm the one who should be irritated. I have been treated quite roughly. If Wendybird had been more civil in the initial responce, I would not be quite so upset.

> It's hardly waiting a week or a month. > You need to give Basil fan a chance to > respond.

I thought I had, regarding the unwritten "rules" I was reprimanded with when I first arrived. There needs to be some consensus reached, or these mixed messages will continue.

> Besides I'm 99% sure I have the right > song & it would be my turn.

I thought the Dalmations was an inside joke. I've seen it in other posts. If it was truly your guess, then I apologize. I thought all questions had been answered.

> Please be considerate of the other
> people on this board who can't be
> online more than once a day.

I'm very considerate, but I'm not psychic. I can't predict when the rules change unless it's stated. I what of those we can get online more than once? It's not more fair that our considerations are completely ignored either. Some middle ground needs to be reached.

As for Wendybird not being a newbie, well, I had not seen the person before.
So, excuse me there, but again, please have polite criticism, Wend(ey)birds.

That is not how it was explained to me, and I don't care for it much, but that is for the others to decide.

To be more specific, my problems with it are:

1. What if the poster never confirms an answer? Are we to wait another few days before asking a question?

2. What's the point of having to ask the poster what's up? If the poster finally posts, all he will do is confirm or deny the answer, and then we have to wait even longer for the person with the correct answer to respond. This could take weeks. I think it's effectivly grounds the board to a halt.

3. I don't think it's fair that we with the "luxery" of posting more frequently have to give everything up for the sake
of those who don't. It's merely a transference of one inconvinence to another.

Surely a better middle ground that will satisfy both parties without totally choosing one over the other can be reached?

This is where the 24 hour rule comes into play. If their answer was correct, they have 24 hours to post a new question or lose their turn.

I don't know what to make of this. Most people don't have this "luxury" Here's an idea that may work for you GGGF, start your own game & state your rules in the first post (IE: you only have 6 hours to respond or you lose your turn) That could work for you.

Now, back on topic. I will wait until basil fan confirms my answer of "Mad Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone"

Another day added. Still seems a waste of time.

As for most people not having the luxery, that may or may not be true.

And I would rather come to a solution with all the members of the board in accordance, than go out on my own. Also, there are many good games on here that I want to participate in, and I would rather not be redudant and start an identical game. If I understand correctly, that is another no-no.

And I wouldn't have it be six hours, c'mon, I was not being *that* quick and pushy!!!

Madam Mim is correct.

I'm sorry that I am partly to blame for all the trouble withthese quiz categories. I generally go online 4 days a week, so sometimes it's longer than 24 hours before I can respond. Sometimes I post the day I expect to be back, but I won't get mad if anyone feels they shouldn't wait. That's life.

Whatever rule is agreed upon, I will do my best to abide by it.

See you Thursday.

Hi Wendebird and GGGF,

It looks like it hasn't been 24 hours since wendebird posted her answer.

>>>wendebird

So I think everyone should at least give Basil fan a chance to answer...

Thanks,
Dave

Well. It looks like we are clear on the song in question and it is wendebird's turn now.

Again, GGGF, I am sorry that you took my comments as a personal attack. You've mentioned the general consensus again, and we obviously have gotten different ideas of what that is. I have been following some of these threads for a while now and I've never gotten a sense that people were in a big hurry to get questions answered. To me, the fun is in hearing the correct answer before a new question is asked. Maybe other agree with me, maybe they don't, I don't know. But, I don't think there is any reason to criticize or belittle one another b/c of our diffference in opinion. If you think we all need to come to some agreement, that's cool, but let's let some others voice their opinions before we assume either you or I have *the* right idea of how to proceed. Who knows-- we could both be wrong!
