"Do you want me to go down to the park and bring Mr. Charles home?"
"No thank you."
"Now what are you doing?"
"I'm mixing a Martini for Mr Charles."
"But he's down in the park."
"Yes, that's Mr. Charles down in the park and this is a Martini that I am shaking."
"Yes and?"
"Well, sooner or later Mr Charles and this Martini are going to get together." |

| cheezman20 Mon 8/11/2003 11:33p | I don't know how i end up doing this but whenever i rent movies all of them seem to be on the same theme though i don't realize it when i rent them...
hadn't seen any of these before
Solaris - OMG this movie was amazing... the whole movie was like the end of Kubrick's 2001... and i loved the soundtrack... must see more sci fi from Soderbergh... very tragic love story.
Dr. Zhivago - OMG this movie was amazing... I saw Lawrence of Arabia a few months ago and have realized that David Lean is one of the only directors I have seen who can make reality look like a special effect (mirage scene in Lawrence of Arabia, ice crystals melting in Dr. Zhivago). very tragic love story... i've never been so depressed. I had to call Keli to tell her I loved her after watching this movie. Now I have to see Bridge on River Kwai :).
Blow - woohoo... johnny depp! I don't know why i didn't see this one earlier. very well done by the late Ted Demme. Like a Goodfellas sequel and it even had Ray Liotta. Although it's about the true story of the guy who made cocaine prevalant in the 70's it is also a "very tragic love story" about him and his daughter. Craziness. Ted, I'm glad you were able to make a movie like this and "A Decade Under the Influence" before you moved on... RIP
The Pianist - I really thought I would be nauseous through this movie like I was through Schindler's List, but luckily this movie was an amazing adventure story more inline with Polanski's other films of paranoia and chase. I had avoided all critiques and previews of this movie because I enjoy going in not knowing anything about them. I'm glad I did. This movie caught me off guard. The shots of his hands playing the piano were phenomenal... I immediately went to my piano to try to do the same... it didn't work. This movie was the opposite from the other movies I watched. Where the others were about characters that pursued love, this was about love that pursued the character. I will be buying this and watching it again and again. Deserved the Academy Awards. Polanski is a true artist (and lets just forget his private life). |
