| cheezman20 Tue 10/7/2003 3:37a | I saw a bunch of movies in the past few weeks:
About Schmidt: waaaaaaaaaa... i was suckered into this one... i hate when movies are so blatant about controlling your emotions, but jack nicholson is a great actor and it was a very "real" movie. It focused on a lot of issues people don't want to deal with. I got teary-eyed.
Underworld: ahem... leather clothing... werewolves... vampires... it was a cheezy movie, but kate beckinsale was great (i think i'm in love).
Once Upon a Time in Mexico: I love Robert Rodriguez and I love his movies (well, all the ones that I've seen) and this movie was no exception. The acting was great, the visuals excellent (beautiful cinematography), and I've never felt more proud of my Mexican Heritage (the mexicanos didn't spend the entire movie taking a siesta). Special commendation on another brilliant Johnny Depp role. Pretty soon there won't be any challenging roles left for him and he'll try to play a turnip dealing with emotional issues stemming from past-life trauma and a fetish for ranch dressing. I have no doubt that he could pull it off.
Lost in Translation: You ever watch a movie and it just so happens that you are dealing with the same problems as the characters? This movie hit really close to home for me at this point of my life and left me shell-shocked. Bill Murray is fantastic yet again, and Scarlett Johannsen is my new girlfriend. Sophia Coppola is a great director (that family is way too talented) and has a great sense of timing. Beautiful scenery too. Highly recommended. |
