| DDMAN26 Thu 10/9/2003 12:29p | mmaus1962 you're not the only one who feels about Chicago that way. Actually you made further than I did. I ended up turning it off at forty minutes in. |

| DDMAN26 Thu 10/9/2003 12:48p | >>A great movie, as always. (However, the "new song" was pretty atrocious, not only unnecessary, but actually distracting and grating...)<<
<<That's kinds what I thought when I saw it on stage.>>
I didn't care for the Morning Report on stage either, actually I would have prefered if they included "He Lives in You" from the stage version. |

| Inspector 57 Fri 10/10/2003 6:55a | mmaus1962, thanks for sharing! I'm really glad to know what you thought of it.
<< I found all the characters to be irritatingly self-centered and unsympathetic with the exception of Roxie's husband--who was a spineless loser.>>
This just fascinates me! My #1 reason for not liking movies is that the central character(s) is self-centered. There are a number of very popular movies that I can't watch because of that.
But even though we get practically zero background information or depth on Chicago's characters, and they ARE all self-centered, I felt for them all. ?!?!?
I also thought Renee and Richard were great! I love their voices on the soundtrack.
I'll enjoy thinking more about what you've said.
Ain't diversity grand?! |

| mmaus1962 Fri 10/10/2003 8:37a | Yo! Inspector--you are right diversity is marvelous! I also realize that I am WAY in the minority in my opinion of the film. I guess I have a prejudice in that I think people who appear in musicals should be able to sing, and I mean really sing, not just be able to carry a tune; unless they are fantastic dancers with passable voices, and then I'll forgive them. (Like Gene Kelly, for example.) But, hey, that's just me. :) |

Pretty good movie, a bit heavy handed, but still enjoyable. Gregory Peck is always good.
