| TiggerPooh1973 Tue 8/30/2005 11:22a | "She's Come Undone" was a great book Pixie!
Right now I am reading a book called, "Sleeping with Beauty". Totally not the kind of book I usually read. Picked it up on a whim. It's one of those summer type reads I guess. It's actually a pretty entertaining "chick book" if there is such a thing. It's about a gal who was a total geek in high school and still feels that she is even though she is 28. She goes to a place called "The Glass Slipper" for a makeover before her 10 year high school reunion. It's pretty funny. Predictable, but funny. |

| chickendumpling Mon 9/5/2005 8:36p | Did I already mention I just finished "I don't know how she does it? by Allison Pearson? Eerie because it's the story of my life really. Okay, not exactly but way, way closer than I like to admit.
I plan on the next book I read being JohnS1's book about Death Valley. |

And left my new Caleb Carr (well, just bought from Amazon) book on one of the flights from here to Florida last week. ARGH! So just ordered it again from Amazon.

| idleHands Sun 9/11/2005 4:48p | Three at once:
"The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell "The Search for the Giant Squid" by Richard Ellis "The Imagineering Workout" by The Disney Imagineers
There's a strange, almost cosmic synergy between all three books, that I can't quite explain. But whatever it is... it works for me. |

| gardenrooms Mon 9/12/2005 1:30p | chickendumpling - quit reading and get back to writing your trip report - you've left us all hanging! lol
In additiion to reading chickendumpling's very entertaining trip report, I just picked up at the library and started Inamorata, about a 1920's spiritualist, for a fun read. Apparently it's based on a true story. People seem to either really enjoy it or not like it at all. So far, it has piqued my curiosity.
Miss Candace, I listen to the lady PI books you mentioned on tape at the gym. Don't allow myself to listen to them unless I'm working out which motivates me to work out so I can find out "who done it". The county library has many of them on tape (also like Paretsky). I tried "serious" books for this - my first was The Corrections - an award winning book on Oprah's Book Club - and it was all I could do to drag myself to the gym. The book was depressing and I didn't care about any of the people, none of whom I liked. I am sure this was not the best way to "experience" this book, so I decided that something light and entertaining, with a plot that was easy to follow, was the way to go. I'm currently listening to an old Sharon McCone - Where Echoes Live. |
