| jasmine7 Mon 4/24/2006 9:02a | I started reading The Da Vinci Code over the weekend. I picked it up while grocery shopping at Wal-Mart on a lark, just to see if it's as good as all the hubub around it. So far, it is, and it's far better than I was expecting. I'm hooked on this puppy at 81 pages in! |

| JohnS1 Mon 4/24/2006 2:03p | We just got a book into our book stroe the other day called "The DiVinci Cod." It's a spoof on the original (which I haven't read) and seems to poke the most fun at Dan Brown's apparent way of interrupting his own story to give overly detailed factual information about cities, paintings, buildings, etc. As I say, I haven't read the original, but one woman at the store told me she didn't think Brown was a very good writer. So, now, of course, I've got to check it out! (-; |

| Tinkerbell819 Fri 4/28/2006 10:18a | JohnSl, I haven't been on LP for a while, I guess, (it didn't seem that long!),but I just read your previous post about the Dave Barry contest that you won! Wow! That must have been a blast! I agree w/your comments about some of the content in fiction and I actually feel myself blushing sometimes when I come across a book like that! lol I go to the library most of the time b/c I will read the outside flap of a book and think it sounds good only to find out that it's trash. Then, I'm so glad I didn't waste money on it! I just read a really cute "Young Readers" book called "Al Capone does My Shirts" by Gennifer Choldenko. It was on display at my library for Autism Awareness month. My librarian brought me over to show me the display b/c she knows I have 2 kids w/Autism and the title was so interesting I had to check it out! It was about a boy growing up on Alcatraz Island in 1935 and he had a sister with a problem that would be known as Autism today. (The author had an Autistic sister.) It was really good!

| DDMAN26 Wed 5/3/2006 9:49p | I got three books going on right now. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Since my dad has my copy of the DaVinci Code, I figured I read Robert Langdon's other adventure.
By the way AlexBook, do know when Brown's next novel is due?
The Godfather, I loved the movie greatly and always wanted to read the book.
And Cell by Stephen King, started this earlier this year but got sidetracked. |
