Yeah, I saw it too. I'm sure that poster got the message.

Wow, the post is already well past 100. Who says the "DCA sucks" threads have played out ;).

People, like it or not, if you want a DISCUSSION, you gotta bring in some controversy and a little negativity. Sorry, that's life. If you DON'T want to read about DCA sucking for the 875th time, don't enter the freaking thread for the 875th time ;).

I think I say this MUCH more than I talk about what a sucky park DCA is (or alledgely lol).

I posted this over at another site, but thought I would bring it over to this thread...

Let's look at the park attractions...

Main Entrance, no attractions, just the smell of burnt coffee and folks trying to take your picture in front of a lame excuse for a "weenie"

MuppetVision, a 10 year old movie from WDW

Millionaire, another lift from WDW, but without the preshow offered in Orlando, now closed only after a couple of years

StupidStar Lame-O, a ride so bad they closed it and never reopened

ToT - Another 10 year old attraction for WDW, but built about $30 million cheaper

Animation - Of course, no real animators in this one, Disney liked the idea so much, they removed them from the WDW version

Playhouse Disney - A replacement for Soap Opera Bistro, why the heck would they think a limited appeal place would work INSIDE the park, if they really want to make a go of it, the Bistro should have been in DtD, where the Soap fans could go without having to pay to get into DCA...

Over to the other side...

Soarin' - Nice attraction, from the original WestCot plans, but the pre-show was cut and replaced by a few posters....

GRR - Gee, a river rapids ride, just like Knott's, Six Flags Magic Mountain and SeaWorld, and that is just in SoCal...

Redwood Creek - A kiddie play area, heck, I have been to public parks that have many of the same type of play structure, and the place is FREE

Golden Dreams - Gee, we go from an attraction that was scheduled to have lots of AA's, moving stages, etc... to a crappy movie....... During Mouse Adventure, out team decided to pass on that Quests, because none of us wanted to have to sit thru the movie

Golden Zepher - a ride that can't run if the winds go above a couple miles per hour

Mulholland Madness - A Wild Mouse Coaster I can find at the local County Fair

Orange Stinger - I much prefer the Wave Swinger at Knott's, I love going over the top of trees instead of some concrete

Maliboomer - Another ride in which I prefer the Knott's version, Supreme Scream is about 2 as high and a much better experience

Sun Wheel - Another attraction that is similar to the County Fair

The Games of the Boardwalk - Gee, just like SFMM, Knott's, SeaWorld and USH....

King Triton's Carousel - Knott's Merry Go Round is much better, and has much more "history" Heck, at Disneyland they felt it was important to have a "classic" Carrousel, so much so they got on from Toronto Canada

Screamin' - Why not a REAL woodie for a California Boardwalk, like the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz or San Diego

The Factory Tours - Give me a BREAK... they count these as attractions????

The Farm area, what used to feature real crops now has been converted to a flower bed, it was bad before, now it is even worse

Flik's Fun Fair - a train ride that takes longer to load than to ride, the slowest Bumper Cars on earth, heck I can walk faster...

Tough to be a Bug - Another WDW import, at least it was only a year or two old....

Seasons of the Vine.. heck, the theater only holds 50 folks, and is never full....

Yep, DCA SUCKS... AWFUL, BAD, SUCKS......

comparing any Disney park, even DCA, to SFMM and Knotts is laughable. There are many little Disney touches, even at DCA, that give you such a different feeling than those other standard parks.

BTW, I like both of those parks, I dont want anyone to think I am trying to slam them. They serve there purpose nicely, but, please, I dont get any of that magical feeling at those places, and I do get some of it at DCA.

I feel that magic when soaring over the mountains and surfers on Soarin. I feel that magic while touring the Animation building, for me, one of my favorite Disney attractions at any Disney park. I feel it in every aspect, queu and actual ride, on ToT, I feel the magic while watching ITTBAB, truly a great attraction.

While I like those other parks, they have absolutely nothing to rival any of the experiences that I just named.

That doesnt even include GRR, the best rapids ride anywhere, better than Poppeys or Kali River Rapids, and it doesnt include MSEP, which all of my family loves.

100% agreed planodisney!
I have to say that I didn't like Knott's at all when I was there this year.Talk about a park that needs maintenance.I would rather go to DCA anytime...no comparison.

You are right Darkbeer, you can ride similar rides at Knott's...are they better..your opinion. I personally think DCA is better than Knott's.
I have a question for you though. You compare DCA to DL,and of course it's not
as good,we all get that. But what if you
compared Knott's to Disneyland?
You are comparing similar rides at DCA to Knott's. OK. let's compare Splash Mountain at Disneyland to Knott's copy of Splash. Let's compare BTMRR to that boring mine ride at Knott's.I'm sorry but GRR is 10 times better than that boring water ride at Knott's.
Knott's fails even bigger when you compare it to Disneyland.
Look real hard for the Disney touches in DCA,you can actually see them if you want to!!

Hmmm... look real hard at a speeding hammer, and you'll see stars too. Doesn't mean they're really there.

Honestly, you can see plenty of Disney touches in just about any theme park operated since 1955. But a large factor in the DCA/Knott's comparison neglects the fact that Knott's has a lot more attractions. So, yes, they may not have the Disney magic, but many of DCA's don't either. I like GRR, but I like Bigfoot just as much. I like Screamin, but I like Knott's genuine woody too. And, frankly, the Calico Mine Train is the closest I'll ever get to pre-BTMRR Frontierland, and that is still worth visiting.

DCA has Paradise Pier and some nice looking stuff on the queue side of GRR. But they're pretty devoid of an abundance of things to actually do. HPB on the other hand USED to have several things, but it looked like a big ole mess, and it's always bottlenecked because there's only one way in, so it almost feels like entering a roach motel.

There are some Disney touches here and there, but depending where you are in the park, you might have to be a CSI to find them.

Sorry, I have to disagree there. Yeah, true, if you compare it to "Six Flaggs something, something Idaho" then yeah, it would definitely beat the standard park. The problem I have is that the name DISNEY is in the title. There should be nothing AS standard as DCA is concerning Disney parks. Sure, it may be SOMEWHAT better than Knotts, but outside of a little more theming and the Animation Studio, most people couldn't tell you the difference. FFF is a nice kids area, but "Camp Snoopy" blows the doors off of it IMO. The Ghost Town in Knott's has a more authentic and lively feel than the Redwood area (although I think the Redwood area is prettier). Of course, when you get into actual ATTRACTIONS, well, besides Soarin and TOT, everything else is standard Knott's stuff and THAT'S the main issue a lot of people have. Theming is one thing, but what gets you in the door, the RIDES, is not any different than any standard theme park, just prettier. All style and no substance ;).

Just an opinion though.......but a valid one I think :).

<<OK. let's compare Splash Mountain at Disneyland to Knott's copy of Splash.>>

Hard to compare when one has a story based on the logging industry circa 1890's and another is based on a Disney fantasy animated feature.

But in terms of duration, thrills and immersiveness in their themed stories, they are virtually identical.

<<Let's compare BTMRR to that boring mine ride at Knott's.>>

Walt Disney loved Bud Hurlbut's Calico Mine Ride at KBF and Bud loved The Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland. Both attractions were pretty much on par with each other since they both told similar types of stories at the time of 1960.

<<I'm sorry but GRR is 10 times better than that boring water ride at Knott's.>>

This one I just don't get. Both attractions are identical in story development. GRR is engineered to spin the raft, that's about the real difference. Other than that, everyone gets equally wet and the ride duration is about the same.

<<Knott's fails even bigger when you compare it to Disneyland.>>

This is simply a ludicrous comparison to try to even make. Knott's is a second tier park when compared to Disneyland, it has never tried to be anything else.

Knott's entertainment area is much smaller than Disneyland's for one. There are only three themed areas in Knott's vs more than twice that at Disneland.

Yes compared to Disneyland, Knott's is not an equal entertainment experience. But compared to DCA, Knott's can hold it's own for a full days worth of entertainment.

I'd like to see DCA pull in more than $100 million for any month of operation. Because, that is exactly what Knott's does for the month of October.

The point I was trying to make crapshoot is, the DCA naysayers on these boards constantly state how DCA fails so miserably when compared to DL. Well, so does Knott's when you compare it to DL. And it's my opinion that DCA is better than Knott's and so are the rides that I mentioned.

There is nothing here that you need to get, it's my opinion. :)
