>>I'm stealing that line, ModHatter. If you see it on an episode of "Joey" or something, don't sue me.<<

I won't sue, but I AM looking for work, or at least a literary agent... [hint hint]

Lets look at the Theme Park Insider park ratings...(The ratings come from the actual readers, as they rate individual attractions and dining options, then an average score is given for the entire park)

http://www.themeparkinsider.co
m/parks/allparks_rating.cfm

1. Sea World Orlando - 7.78
2. Islands of Adventure - 7.76
3. Disney-MGM Studios - 7.66
4. Tokyo DisneySea - 7.56
5. Universal Studios Florida - 7.49
6. Cedar Point - 7.47
7. Universal Studios Hollywood - 7.31
8. Busch Gardens Williamsburg - 7.29
9. Sea World San Diego - 7.19
10. Dollywood - 7.18
11. Epcot - 7.13
12. Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom - 7.12
13. Disney's Animal Kingdom - 7.08
14. Disneyland Park - 7.06
15. Kings Island - 7.01
16. Six Flags Over Georgia - 7.01
17. Six Flags Great America - 6.94
18. Alton Towers - 6.94
19. Kings Dominion - 6.93
20. Busch Gardens Tampa - 6.92
21. Legoland California - 6.84
22. Knott's Berry Farm - 6.79
23. Thorpe Park - 6.72
24. Canada's Wonderland - 6.7
25. Disneyland Paris - 6.66
26. Six Flags Magic Mountain - 6.64
27. California Adventure - 6.6
28. Six Flags Great Adventure - 6.55
29. La Ronde - 6.2
30. Geauga Lake - 6.08
31. Hersheypark - 5.83
32. Great America - 5.36

Lets see, based on these ratings, DCA is the worse Disney park built, and all the Universal Parks are better. Also all the Busch Parks are higher rated than DCA. Cedar Point, Knott's, and even LEGOLAND are rated higher.

Also remember the Consumer Reports ratings that I posted earlier in this thread, DCA was on the bottom of that list too, both Knott's and USH were rated higher.....

But this discusiion reminds me of this great line from the "Unoficial Guide to Disneyland" by Bob Sehlinger...

>>From a competitive perspective, Disney's California Adventure is an underwhelming shot at Disney's three Southern California competitors. The Hollywood section of DCA take a hopeful poke at Universal Studios Hollywood, while Paradise Pier offers midway rides a la Six Flags Magic Mountain. Finally, the whole California theme has for years been the eminent domain of Knott's Berry Farm. In short, there's not much originality in DCA, only Disney's now-redundant mantra that "whatever they can do, we can do better".

Even if the park was called Disney's Slag Heap, the faithful would turn out en masse.<<

As I mentioned earlier, I prefer to visit Knott's, USH, SFMM and SeaWorld San Diego to DCA, and based on the TPI and Consumer Reports ratings, other folks also feel the same way.

All this shows is how absolutely ridiculous surveys like this can be.

MGM Studios is better than...
Tokyo Disney Sea?
Epcot?
WDW's Magic Kingdom?
Disneyland?

I don't think so!

And DOLLYWOOD is better than
Epcot?
Magic Kingdom?
Disneyland?

RIGHT!! Lord, please take me now for the end of the world is surely at hand!!

Can you get beer there...

For the SoCal parks...

SFMM - Has not offered beer for decades, but used to have an area where you could have a beer.

USH - Sells beer throughout the park, heck you can take beer on the Tram Tour. Also has a full bar near the entrance to Terminator 2 : 3-D, if you want a Martini.... Karl Struass Brewery located in CityWalk

Knott's sells beer at a few location, including the Calico Saloon, but they require you drink it inside the marked area. You cannot walk around the park with it.

LEGOLAND - You can get a beer with purchase of a meal at one restaurant. Karl Strauss Brewery just blocks away

SeaWorld San Diego - gives you FREE beer :), plus you can buy beer throughout the park, and walk around with it.

Heck, at SeaWorld you can go to Beer School, much better than watching the Bread or Tortilla demo......

^ Actually, SeaWorld also has a machine that gives AP holders "rewards", usually things like a discount of Frazee Paint, a discount at a restaurant of for a tour, etc...

Occasionally you win something...

My last visit..

A Free Box of Popcorn :)

Free Beer, Free Popcorn.... What's not to like.....

I don't consider Theme Park Insider to be a very...accurate look at theme parks overall.

Yes, it's one group of people, but I'd love to know what the demographics are over there.

It seems like it's more male coaster freaks in their late 20s - early 30s, which is going to skew the results to be more about thrill rides.

That is a ridiculous list of the top parks. Sea World Orlando is the best park? Please!! Universal Orlando is #5? Please!!! I was just there a month ago, and besides Mummy, I was completely underwhelmed. Visiting that park is like stepping back in time.

Darkbeer, still waiting for the list of Knotts attractions that could be placed into Didneyland.

Also, there is no way that you can seriously argue that Animation and ToT wouldnt measure up at Disneyland. That is crazy. And, you think HISTA, which is already in Disneyland, is more Disneyland than Muppets, Come on people. Be reasonable.
