>>Picture a Coca-Cola Company discussion board .. and people dissing "The New Coke" that came out several years ago. Never to be seen again.<<

I liked New Coke. But it doesn't belong in a Disney park.

>>On the other hand, DCA is not a failure to those of you that like it, but it is generally admitted that DCA by you that could be better>>

A classic example of cutting, pasting, overtyping, etc... of course it should read "but it is generally admitted by you that DCA could be better."

I like DCA well enough. The last time I was at DLR my mother and sister and me spent most of our one day there, and the remainder in DL. Unlike some others here, I find Soaring extremely repeatable... it's definitely one of my favorite attractions. I loved Blast, and this past trip was my first chance to see Aladdin. Didn't seem like Disney could top Blast, which I thought was great, but Aladdin is the best show I've ever seen in a Disney park... certainly the equal of the shows I saw at TDR, and IMO is almost worth the entire admission alone.

I can understand Disney cloning rides (ToT, Bugs, Muppets). There are millions of people who will never see a Disney park (resort), let alone both. So while a guy like me who has seen all four, it's a bit of a let down, but I cut 'em slack on that.

I'm a bit more critical of PP. I know it's themed as a classic amusement park, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I like CS though; fun coaster. The other stuff I have no real interest in experiencing, as they are just too pedestrian in my book.

I guess that puts me in the DCA is OK camp, and I'm OK with that. I'l be happier as the years go on, I am sure. ;-)

I will make only one more statement. While, it's true, I have dozens of 'Disneyland' t-shirts, watches, attraction posters, jackets, etc...I have never purchased one shirt from DCA ;-)

When my wife and I were there, we purchased a bunch of stuff at DCA, but didn't spend one souvenir dollar at Disneyland.

Go figure.

^^^LOL.....what, if I may ask, did you guys buy?

I wasn't saying that DCA doesn't have anything good to purchase; I guess I'm just stuck on all of the DL stuff.

My wife and I each bought a DCA T-shirt at Greetings from California.

Then we bought a bunch of stuff at Engine-Ears Toys:

A Disney version of Clue

Cast metal ride vehicles for:
Mr. Toad
Pinocchio
Matterhorn
(yea I know... DL rides... they didn't have anything for DCA rides)

A DCA "Hiking Goofy" stuffed toy.

And from Rizzo's Prop and Pawn Shop, a Beaker stuffed toy.

I'm sure we also bought some stuff for people as gifts, but since we don't have it I don't remember what it was.

A very honest assessment. Many people will only ever get to one Disney park in their lifetime, some not at all.
I think many Disney enthusiasts fail to recognize this when complaining about "copy attractions". These attractions are very new to the majority of guests who visit Disneyland and DCA.

Ummmmmm...I'm not in the 'LP Secret Pal' thing this year, but maybe next year someone can arrange You to be Mine ;)

>..."copy attractions".<<

I totally agree.

I get so tired of the term 'clone' used in reference to some of the 'new' DLR attractions. For instance, maybe TOT was/is a clone to some LP Disney Experts, but for 'HICKS', like me, this was/is a Very cool, repeatable attraction.

^^only me, ToT is a different attraction. Each attraction has differences that go beyond architecture.. from the theming and queue to the actual show of the ride. Not to mention there are variables in the drop sequences.

Both attractions are worth the experience, it's up to the individual to decide for themself which they prefer. =)
