"If it's good enough for Six Flags, it's good enough for us" |

It was the title slide of a larger presentation.
It could have been referencing a comment made by someone within the Walt Disney Company that was viewed as so ridiculous, it became the title slide.
It could have been designed to get everyone's attention.
OR
It could mean literally what it reads: That if Six Flags can install non-themed roller coasters on the pavement of the parking lot, so can Disney.
I don't see evidence of that, even at DCA.

Which, um, I agree with. Totally. Ever realize you have nothing new to add to the conversation other than "I agree with what _____ said?" I'm at that moment right now. Probably best that I stop, and move on. Kind of embarassing, actually.
I just wanted to say that I agree with what Jim said. As you know by now. Hopefully. |

1996 KEY TO A CHEAPER PARK
Facility, Show or Ride - Pick any 2.
Capitalize on an improving ride industry.
Take known technology & theme it with paint color, lighting & graphics.
Take advantage of engineering already spent by others.
"Direct Lifts"
If it's good enough for Six Flags ....
The "Guiding Principles"

If it's good enough for Six Flags ....
OPTION 1: "... that doesn't mean it's good enough for Disney!"
OPTION 2: "Remember when Steve in accounting said that last month? Yeah, that's why he was fired. Anyway..."
OPTION 3: "... then it's worth it for us to consider following how they do things. Our research shows that non-themed or lightly-themed rides rank just as high as the ones we've been spending a fortune on among consumers."
Which was the closest commentary after the "If it's good enough for Six Flags" slide? |

| ModHatter Wed 10/20/2004 12:02p | That is one of the things that always got me about the "If it works for Six Flags" mentality... At least back in the days when I cared, Six Flags seeemd to get something new every year or two. And not just a section of off the shelf kiddie rides. SFMM trades primarily in E tickets, and they at least USED to keep something new coming to get guests coming regularly.
DCA never seemed to have that part of the strategy. It was only after DCA dramatically underperformed that the strategy had to change.
Of course, the other Six Flags strategy that they missed was the significantly cheaper admmission price.
But, as this year's election proves, some people are extreemly good at missing the obvious. |

| Darkbeer Wed 10/20/2004 12:09p | K2M, you are putting together 2 different points, as I read the slide (MHO), the Slide had a title, and then, as shown by bullet points (not possible to show here at LP) 7 DIFFERENT points related to how to make a cheaper park.
The one "point" from Slide #3 that was discussed in length in the slide presentation was the Guiding Principles, which was detailed in slides #4 and 5. Post # 20 talks about the entire slide # 4. |

| Blacksheep Uncle Wed 10/20/2004 3:21p | WorldDisney...
I guess you missed the joke...(and the irony of someone who spends so much time at DCA explaining so frequently why DCA is a "failure") |

| onlyme Wed 10/20/2004 5:05p | As ModHatter eluded to; DCA may be failing, but it can't be considered a failure until it closes its gates for good. If this were to happen, then we can all chime in and state what a failure DCA turned out to be. There's certainly time, as well as the possibility that good things can begin to happen at that Park.
