"Also... you So Cal folks very carefully cultivate your image of sophisticated cynicism. Admitting you enjoyed DCA wouldn't fit your image, even if you really did."

HA! RoadTrip, you sound like a Northern Californian.

I've got to chime in and say that DCA was a huge dissapointment...I have been coming to Disneyland for about 35 years now and was excited about visiting DCA for the first time two years ago. Soarin', Grizzly and Calif. Screaming were great rides, everything else was basically a waste of time. I think a lot of people bash this park because they were used to the DL experience and were given a waste of space that gave us rides that were no where near the class of Pirates or Splash or Indy. My favorite being Pirates because it is a total immersion in fantasy that delights every time whereas even the best rides at DCA leave you with a feeling of "O.K., what next?" Raze this place and start from scratch with more emphasis put on Disney Family Fun, More "Dark" rides, more water/flume rides, rides enrobed with the "WOW" Factor...

These robes are sturdy. You can wash them in hot as needed, YOHOFORME.

Just a hint, they are perfect for those days when you don't want to get fully dressed but need to be covered while you sit and post on the internet. ;)

Most of you have analyzed this way more than I have, but I want to throw in my two cents. We took our first trip to Disneyland with our two young children two years ago. We didn't know anything about DCA and just went because of the parkhopper. Like most people, we spent time in Disneyland before going over to DCA. After spending time being completely enthralled with the characters, imaginative attactions, attention to detail and feeling like we'd been in another world for a few days, DCA felt so flat--like visiting any amusement park. We're returning soon and will go to DCA for a few attractions that we want to catch again, but we won't spend probably more than a few hours there. Since we traveled far and paid a lot for the trip, we tried to steer clear of things similar to what we do more affordably and with less lines in the amusement park close to home. In Disneyland, there are so many one-of-a-kind attractions and the Disney magic makes it really feel worth the trip. In DCA, you go to a few rides and shows that are unique, but all the fillers aren't worth wasting your time for because you can catch rides like them somewhere else.
NO, DCA probably shouldn't just be Disneyland II; it needs it's own identity. However, it's drawing a crowd based on families expecting magic and many have traveled far and paid a lot of money for a unique experience. Disney should have created a park that is more imaginative to appeal to the Disneyland crowds. Personally, I think they're going the right direction with the improvements and new rides being created. PIXAR may be too trendy to last like the characters in Disneyland, but for now the Monsters, Inc. dark ride and other new attractions will draw more of us who want unusual attractions and Disney magic and the spaces will be easy to convert to other imaginative uses later. Or, maybe if the rides are fun and creative enough, they can stand the test of time. Our children have never seen "Song of the South", but they love Splash Mountain, and the long lines there daily prove it's not the movie-connection that's important, it's the quality and uniqueness of the attraction!

Yep, you pretty much just summarized the entire criticism that's been discussed about the place here. You got it in a nutshell. Now, its OKAY if you like it and all, but it's the reason why so many people simply don't and even though it's taken a few years lol, I think they are finally catching on in Anaheim ;).

BTW, welcome Elastigirl-3, future DCA basher.....and your robe is being sent to you as we speak, along with your pitchfork and torches for a future club gathering ;D.

I've been enjoying reading DCA bashing for a while. I now wear the robe of a basher with pride, WorldDisney, glad I could have the dubious distinction of membership! Count me in on future bashes...

>> The park's newest attraction, a scaled-down version of Disney World's Tower of Terror, is helping....but why did Disney give in to the cloning process? It's not a regional operator like Six Flags that can afford to dilute the magnetism of a new ride by copying it. Why would the masses that have already experienced the ride in Florida over the past 10 years head out to California? <<

The writer also could have added that if the DisCo is going to clone a ride, they should at least make it as good, if not better, than the original version, particularly if the ride in question is going to be installed in a park that's already as cut-rate and uninspiring as DCA is.
