I just wanted to confrim that there was indeed a sell out on Christmas 2004. I was told that a sell out is around 86,000 or so. (On the 24, there was around 38,000 people in the park.) Since I worked on Fantasmic, I got to hear this information, which was used to explain why there was a third show on the 25th. FYI: If you can and there is one, go to the 11:30 show of Fantasmic. The center section was still pretty full, but over by Haunted Mansion, where I was, there was hardly anyone at all.

I was there the whole week leading up to Christmas and indeed it was crowded! Our room was on the 11th floor of the Sierra overlooking downtown and at about 9am Sat.there was a stream of people coming from the aux. parking lot.Unbelievable! The crowds were way up from last Xmas.

They don't release exact attendance figures to the Cast. Management says something to the effect of "48,000 - 68,000" etc. I've been told the park closed its gates, but this isn't at all surprising, especially if one remembers last year. The park closed its gates every day during Christmas week.

The numbers I was told...

DL had about 75,000, and was not "officially" closed by the Fire Marshalls, but that all decisions made regarding the stopping of ticket sales, and restricting folks entering thru the gates were entirely Management...

DCA ended up with about 23,000. and those gates never were restrcited....

It also rained heavily last Christmas day. As for Christmas week 2004 and compared to Christmas week 2003, I'd say 2003 was busier.

They stopped selling day tickets and restricted access to Disneyland for a time on Sunday as well.

Hubby and I were turned off by how crowded we heard it would be and stayed home for Christmas. I'm glad now that we made that decision.

Maybe next year.
