| Tiggirl Tue 3/21/2006 10:33a | I'm annoyed. Mark and I have a very close friend whos feelins tends to be hurt very easily if he feels we are not paying enough attention to him (We see him usually once a week if not more often). He complains that we do not spend enough time with him. So I keep inviting him to do things with us and he will never commit. Today is a fine example. I told him several days ago that I was taking Mark to dinner for his 1/2 birthday (I like to celebrate 1/2 birthdays. Its a good reason to have fun and show someone you care!) and I invited the friend along. I called today to remind him about our plans for tonight and he said he would see how he felt after work and let us know if he wanted to go. He does this EVERY time. I find it frustrating that he expects us to wait until he gets off work just to see if he wants to go instead of commiting either way now so we can adjust our plans if we need to. GRRRR!
Really, we like this friend a lot... he's just been on my last nerve lately. LOL!

| mele Tue 3/21/2006 7:16p | Yes, I knew I was anemic but wasn't quite sure how bad it was. I will be having a hysterectomy sometime after April 9th. My husband can't take any time off from work until then and the dr. wants me to try to get my iron levels up as much as possible.
I really have been neglectful of my health. I am at such a high risk of heart attack right now and am lightheaded even when I am sitting down and barely moving. It was so stupid of me. I am pretty scared about the surgery right now because I'm high risk.
It's always scary to have test results spell out how exactly how sick I am. ;-) |

I had hit the point where I was starting to develop an eating disorder, because I was associating the pain with eating. I was pretty anemic as well and had to take iron supplements, plus my doctor was really worried because my vitamin K levels were so low. I finally decided enough was enough and had the surgery. It was painful, but I figured that I had already been through enough pain and at least this was a temporary pain and after it was over I would be feeling much better. Now my life is back to the way it should be. For the longest time I had to be very careful with what I ate because many foods would make me sick. I'm looking forward to a trip to DL in May when for the first time in three years I get to run around and eat anything and everything I want.
Long story short, I'm understanding your fear, but it sounds like this will be for the best and you'll have the well wishes of everyone here to help get you through this. |

| trailsend Tue 3/21/2006 7:47p | But mele ~ now you can get BETTER!!
I'm much older than you, but I've always, always had to keep my iron up and my blood sugar is low.
Even in my 20's, I would regularly take Geritol. I would buy a bottle, take it, then a few months later, do it again. It has always worked for me. I like the liquid ~ everyone thought I was crazy but it worked for me. No, it doesn't taste great, but it worked and that's what counts.
mele, you're on the road uphill now healthwise!! You will feel better with your surgery.
And I'll be praying for you! :) |

| chickendumpling Tue 3/21/2006 8:02p | Ohhh, mele. I'm sorry. Not fun. But definitely do-able right? I suppose the doc gave you a list of foods to eat and all that good stuff. I've struggled with anemia off and on and seem to have conquered it since it hasn't been a problem for about a year now. I would be happy to see what I could dig up for you if you don't like the ideas the dr. gave you. Let me know. I care about you and want to help you in whatever way you need.
Also, about your surgery - in the last 2 years 2 women I work with have had to have total hysterectomies. I was totally worried for both of them. One especially cause she's one of my best girlfriends. She's like a big sister to me. Anyway, she is so happy she had did it. She's like herself again and she couldn't be better.
Hang in there sweetie. We all love you and are thinking about you. Even me.....even if you did kick me off of the LP island. ;) |

| mele Wed 3/22/2006 12:12p | Thanks, guys.
I am relieved to learn that I can bring my laptop with me to the hospital. I don't think I could stand to be away from it (and everyone) for 2-6 days. I shudder at the thought.
I am scared though. Because of my anemia and that I'm overweight, I'm considered high risk. I'm going to be totally morbid and write my loved ones letters. Just in case. Fun project. |
