>>Powered by strong investment in new rides, the 50th anniversary of Disneyland and a hurricane season that bypassed the theme park capital of Orlando, attendance at North America's 50 most popular amusement parks rose 4.2 percent in 2005.

An estimated 176 million visitors went to North America's most popular parks, according to an annual survey to be released Monday by the trade publication Amusement Business and the research firm Economics Research Associates.

Disney's four parks in Florida and two parks in California benefited from the celebration with new rides, stage shows and parades. The Florida parks had attendance increases of between 5 percent and 6 and 1/2 percent, while Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim, Calif. respectively saw growth of 8 and 1/2 percent and 3.6 percent.

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando, with 16.1 million visitors, and Disneyland in California, with 14.5 million visitors, were not only the two most visited parks in North America in 2005, but they were the best-attended parks in the world. In North America, the remaining top 5 spots were filled out with Disney's other Florida parks: Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom.<<

Whatever happened to DCA's attendance being at record lows like we heard about from various uber-fans all summer??

RoadTrip, as I mentioned in another thread, I find all the numbers to be a bit suspicious.

I'm truly shocked that the MK has more visitors than TDL and DL. Just seems impossible.

Numbers can be finagled in many ways. Not saying they are here, but the way Disney counts attendance with parkhoppers/APs leaves it open to doubt.

"I'm truly shocked that the MK has more visitors than TDL and DL. Just seems impossible."

Hasn't TDL's attendance been on the decline in the past year or so?

CEO to CFO - What will our numbers say?
CFO - What would you like them to say?

<< CEO to CFO - What will our numbers say?
CFO - What would you like them to say?>>

Guy #1 shows up to interview for the position of Controller. The CEO asks the candidate what 2 + 2 equals. The candidate says "4". The CEO says "Thank you very much; we'll call you if we're interested".

Guy #2 shows up to interview and is asked the same question. Once again the candidate answers "4". Once again the CEO essentially says don't call us, we'll call you.

Guy #3 shows up to interview. The CEO asks "What is 2 + 2"?" The candidate immediately gets out off his chair, shuts the blinds, locks the door and whispers into the CEO's ear "What would you like it to equal?"

Guy #3 got the job.

The world's greatest accounting joke... it's probably been told in hundreds of variations.

Actually, the extremely meaningless and pointless re-ordering of the list in #5 is a good illustration of how statistics can be skewed to try and illustrate whatever agenda someone wants to convey...
