They are remolding the Riverbell to make it a two-story building with Fantasmic viewing. The Riverbell and the Bengal share the same kitchen area (or at lease storage), which means that you can't touch one with out effecting the other.

I understand why during the remolding the Bengal must shut down, but I don't understand the need to not bring it back after the Riverbell is done. That is, if the rumor is correct.

Here is the Mouse Planet article: http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=dl060213xx

And DH's response to Bengal BBQ being shut down is definitely not suitable to be posted on this board. He loves getting meat on a stick as a small midday meal to tide him over until dinner. He talks about being able to get back to DL to eat Bengal the same way I talk about getting back for the fusilli at Red Rockets :)

And since it the blurbs are at the bottom of that article, here is the info for those who don't want to have to read through the whole thing:

"River Belle Terrace unofficially to close in September or October 2006 for complete redesign into larger two-story restaurant.
Bengal BBQ rumored to close permanently in September or October 2006 to provide room for expansion of River Belle Terrace."

I'm still hoping that it truly is just a rumor.

This stinks. Bengal BBQ is GREAT. ANd, every time I've been near it, it's been quite busy! Disney is foolish to close this place!

But, at least the rumors have it closing AFTER I get a chance to vist in July. :D

I don't know if this would work thematically, but what about moving Bengal BBQ (not the name per se) to one of the two closed NOS window service locations?

If Bengal BBQ is closing, what does that mean for the spot in Adventureland where it's located? Will they just cover it over with a facade? Have nothing there?

>Disney is foolish to close this place!<

I don't think it's like they made a decision based on the merits of the Bengal. It's more of a neccessity with the remodel of the Terrace. They'd be smart to relocate the menu elsewhere, or at least incorporate it into the newly designed Terrace.
