How old is DD? Which characters are her favorites?

Perhaps I'm idiosyncratic about food (and buffets, especially), and I don't mean to sound judgemental here, but...

I can't imagine agonizing over the quality of their respective foods as the most important factor in deciding where to have a birthday celebration. Both places are going to give you the opportunity to absolutely gorge yourself on good foods that you really enjoy.

The experiences are entirely different. Goofy's is loud and high-energy, filled with rugrats and music. Everyone is there because they want to attend the very Disney party. Storyteller's is a real restaurant that offers a brunch at certain times. Many/most of the diners there are adults who just want breakfast. Goofy's continually parades a ton of characters through the room: princesses, classic characters, surprises. Storyteller's makes a handful of characters more or less passively available.

well yes it matters on quality of food because its expensive, its both for the kids and the adults not just one or the other and thats why I'm interested in which one has the best food. we're not having a BIG B-day bash we're just doing the one character meal on her b-day. but I do appretiate everyones opinions it does help in making a informed decision.

We have been to both Storyteller's Cafe and Goofy's Kitchen.
The food is definitely better at the Storyteller's Cafe but it is very low key and very few characters. We only saw Chip and Dale and a big bear.
The food is not fabulous and it can be very crowded and loud but Goofy's Kitchen is definitely more of a "character breakfast", if that is what you are really looking for. Goofy is always there and usually at least five other characters.
If you go to Goofy's, make sure to speak to your server if you find that a certain character is not coming to your table as they will do their best to rectify it.
You could do breakfast at Goofy's one day which only offers a one price buffet and go to Storyteller's another day as you can order off the menu at Storyteller's instead of the buffet.
Have fun!

If you have a child 2 or younger at Storytellers, they can eat the buffet for free any time of the day. A CM told us this on a previous visit & since then my daughter eats for free there.

If you scroll through Disney Dining you will find various opinions regarding Storytellers. Not everyone likes it.

<<Not everyone likes it.>>

That could be said of any restaurant, hotel, theme park, etc. Odds are in favor of a guest enjoying Storytellers, though.

I guess it depends upon the experience. I won't be back.

We have had breakfast at the plaza and lunch (brunch late in the day) at Goofys. We like the plaza. The character interaction was MUCH better at the plaza. Goofys we waited a long, long time between characters. We saw Goofy, Snow white, Aladin and Donald. Max was in the building, but in over 1 1/2 hours he never made it to our section. The food was ok, but not great.

The plaza's food is more breakfasty then Goofy's- not as many lunch selections. We went when it was still Pooh and friends. The last visit my dd was actually rolling on the floor in Tigger's arms. My son was being very shy- so Tigger spent a good 10 minutes trying to warm him up. The others were great as well. At Goofys they all seem like they were ready for a break.

We had dinner at Storytellers (no characters for dinner). The food was ok. Service was VERY slow. Both kids fell asleep before their food came, so they didnt get to eat.

We've eaten at all 3 places with our kids. Here's my opinion!

Storyteller's had less selection than Goofy's for the breakfast, which made the price ridiculous. If I ate there again I'd definately order off the menu instead. The characters didn't come to the tables, which I'm sure a lot of people might prefer, but having two little kids we didn't like. We only saw Pluto, Chip and Dale there.

Plaza Inn was fun. We went when it was Pooh's gang. They came to our table which my daughter liked. The selection wasn't as good as Goofy's, and the atmosphere wasn't as high energy (no dancing and playing).

Goofy's is our absolute favorite. Goofy and several others are there. They come to your table and play with the kids. Last time Pinnochio took my daughter's princess wand and started chasing people with it. Sleeping Beauty is usually there, and the kids love her, as well as Aladdin, Baloo, sometimes Mad Hatter, sometimes Jasmine, sometimes Rafiki. The selection of food is huge, it is buffet food though. I think there is an omelet bar though. Even better is the Goofy's Character dinner, the food is excellent, and the character interaction is the same. The Character's do the hand jive and the Macarana, and play instruments and the kids can go up and dance and play with them.

So, if you want the highest quality, it may not be Goofy's (unless you go at Dinner), but for the most fun for your kid(s), I'd definately choose Goofy's, we always go there.
