| 4Disnee Wed 2/22/2006 2:52p | When we are down at Disneyland my DH always wants to get a really good steak dinner. We have only eaten at Ralph Brennans and have gotten a really good steak there but we would love to try somewhere else. My DH is a real meat man and not much on gourmet food because he his always hungry when we leave. I would really appreciate any suggestions for our up comming trip. Thanks! |

Napa Rose does have a lot of gourmet food, but they also do an amazing steak. Granville's Steakhouse obviously has steak has a specialty. Catal always has some kind of steak on their menu, even though they have other things as well. Hook's Pointe usually has some kind of steak on their menu as well.
Blue Bayou inside Disneyland offers a prime rib, though I don't know if they technically offer steak.

| cstephens Wed 2/22/2006 6:36p | Well, I'm partial to Napa Rose and Catal in general. Napa Rose and Granville's are going to be the most expensive and, in my opinion, the best atmosphere. Hook's Pointe and Catal would probably be comparable in price for steak. Granville's and Hook's have more limited menus than do Napa Rose and Catal, so where you choose might depend on what you'd like to spend, and more importantly, what you might be feeling like having. Since all of those locations would fit the bill for your husband, you'd have to see which restaurant offers entrees that interest you.

It seems to run about $20 to $30 per person all depending on what you get. Our son usually gets a very pricey dinner but eats it all. So we don't mind paying good money for a nice dinner and its nice to splurge when you are at Disney. |

For my money, I much prefer Catal, but it's a personal preference. It's been a while since I've been to Hook's but I think they're probably in the same range. Of course, it depends on what one actually orders, but I'd say the median price is probably close among the three.
Don't forget to come back and tell us where you went and how it was!

Have you ever eaten at the Napa Rose? We have taken a quick peek at the menu. If you have how was the food? Is there a dress code?
One more quick question sorry there are so many but you have been oh so helpful. Have you ever eaten at the Yamabuki? Thanks |

I love Napa Rose. It's the best restaurant at the Disneyland Resort, and that's not just my opinion. They've won many prestigious awards among the Orange County restaurants.
If you go here: http://www.colddeadfish.net/dl rdining.html, and then scroll down a bit, you'll see a number of Napa Rose dinner reviews that I've posted.
There is no dress code that I'm aware of at Napa Rose. It is a high-end restaurant, but they also understand that they're on resort property and that some of their diners will have spent at least part of the day at an amusement park. I've been there dressed in jeans and a t-shirt and dressed business casual and have gotten the same great service either way. I've even seen people dressed in shorts. It's pretty much the perfect dining experience.

It's been a while since I've eaten there. My dinner companions said the teriyaki was good. I don't think anyone had tempura - I'm not sure they even offer that, but I would expect so. The sushi was pretty good, but I'd been spoiled because we had a regular sushi place that we adored, and in comparison, Yamabuki's sushi wasn't as good. It's a little expensive, so the AP discount helped. We may actually be going back for dinner there in May, but we haven't decided yet.
I write entirely too much about food, don't I? ;)

No way I can't thank you enough for all the information you have given me. My DH will be so happy to hear about all the wonderful places that we have talk about. We were always worried that at the Napa Rose there was a dress code so that is why we never went in. He said the menu looked great but we did not want to upset anyone with jeans and a tshirt. That is really good to know. Thank you also for the web site I will go there and check it out. I am so excited about our next trip and dining somewhere new and yummy.
Thanks a million once again I really really appreciate you being so kind with all my questions. I may have more to come in the future. LOL
Thanks Delena :o)

cstephens knows...
My wife and I had our first dinner last week at Napa Rose.
We were concerned about dress - we had our usual resort wear, but nothing dressy. And it was threatening to rain. We just put on our best jeans and nice shirts and went. We were warmly received, and the service was the best.
I had the filet as part of the Vintner's Table. It was flavorful, and perfectly cooked to medium rare, as suggested by Dondi, our server.
$75 for four wonderful courses. A splurge, but also an excellent value, considering the quality of the food, and the great presentation and service. |
