What is the best place to eat at a counter service at MGM? For Lunch we are going to SFI-FI and need to have a C. Service meal. My family really like hamburgers.
Any info would help thanks.

ABC Commissary - it's basically next door to Sci-Fi....

Or the Backlot Express which is between Indy & Star Tours...

I've always been disappointed at the quick service options at the Studios. We ate at the commisary in November, and we were not impressed. In the past, we were always happy with the Backlot Express, but it has been several years since we have eaten there. I was happy with the mediterranean food at the Studio Catering Company, but most people look at the offerings and get scared. I just checked that menu on allearsnet, and it looks like they changed the menu again (and the name of the restaurant). Oh, well.

Otherwise, we end up going to Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club.

I just looked up Beaches and Cream, now that sounds good. All I have to do now is find out if they are on the Dining plan.

It is, but it is considered a table service restaurant. It would probably be better to pay out of pocket, and use the extra TS credit for a 2 credit place or something.

Table service that's a bummer.

Depending on when you are going, you should also seriously consider eating dinner somewhere outside the park on the day you go to the Studios. On our last few trips, we have found that the vast majority of the restaurants in that park close very early, even before 6pm. On our last trip, this was the case even though it was an Extra Magic Hours day at the park.

The ABC Commissary seems to be the main exception when it comes to counter service locations, but this can result in it having extremely long lines as well as it being difficult to find a table. Our experience has also been that the food isn't really very good there. The burgers were dry and overcooked, last time I ate there.
