For the first time, WDW is dumping excess inventory with Priceline.com. Rooms at mostly All Star Sports (but Music too) are coming up for $36 a night for various dates starting this weekend and going into June.
I have no idea if this is a test balloon or not, but it certainly is a VERY significant development in the business model of WDW Resorts.
Who knows? Could $99 rooms at the AKL be far behind?
Just a word of warning to anyone not familiar with PL.com, you are not guaranteed any hotel.
The All Stars are coming up as a 2 1/2 star property in the 'Disney vacinity' zone. Two other hotels, the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird (a decent, but old property) and the Amerisuites LBV (a better option than even the All Stars but not on WDW property) are also hitting at the pricepoint.
Anyway, good luck bargain hunters!
And a great resource for using PL is the BiddingForTravel.com site.

So you pay but not guaranteed a room? |

| LuvDatDisney Tue 4/25/2006 5:46p | ^^You are not guaranteed a specific hotel when you bid.
You bid for a quality level in a certain area.
You find out what you got AFTER you are charged in full for your stay. No refunds. No changes.
But I use PL all the time when I travel. I have saved thousands of dollars with them and never wound up in a bad place.
Got some amazing deals.
I think $36 for the All Stars would be in that category for a lot of budget-minded people.

| LuvDatDisney Tue 4/25/2006 6:18p | ^^That's a great site if you're booking thru WDW.
It doesn't help with Priceline though, unless she has updated the site recently.

| Ursula Wed 5/17/2006 4:33p | Priceline is great. I've never had a problem with any of the rooms I've purchased and if you go to biddingfortravel.com like the OP stated, you will find a lot of help.
WOWIE!!! YEAH, so glad to hear that Disney has a few rooms now on PL. This can only mean good things to come for PL'ers. |
