So, I'm trying to plan my meals for our trip in September. I'm thinking, to get the most bang for my buck (LOL, even though the dining plan is free) we'll use our full service meals for dinner every night. So then I was thinking, do we use our counter service for breakfast each morning at Pop Century, and get the snack around lunch time?

I'm basically afraid if we use our full service meal for breakfast or lunch, we will be hungry at the end of the day.

Should I just buy a meal every day for us? Have you found that the food you get on the dining plan is sufficient? I've heard some people say that you get too much food on the plan.

I understand that per meal you do get too much food. For instance, for your full service meal you get a non-alcoholic beverage, an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. It's just too bad that you can't get the soda and entree, and then save your appetizer and dessert for your lunch or something. That would be cool, to be able to break up each meal into components that you can use whenever you want.

I read Labuda's trip report this past weekend, and she used the DDE to pay for a meal somewhere (I think Boma) even though she was on the MYW+Dining plan. And I've also read where vbdad55 says they do two or more sit down meals per day.

So basically, how should I do my meals so that we aren't left hungry either first thing in the morning, or at night?

Yes, I totally over think things. But the only reason I could convince my husband to go on this trip was to tell him all of our meals were included. And while that is true, if I start buying a meal every day for us, he might not be happy with me. Also, the fact I'll be 30 in October was on my side when I convinced him.

Ok, you can all feel free to shoot me now. I finally stopped obsessing over figuring out where to eat each full service meal every day (thanks to vbdad55!). Now I'm worried about this.

I usually do the "snack" for Breakfast grab a pastry or something.

Last time I didnt put much thought into the counter service for lunch i kinda played it by ear.

My cousin (who I tease for over planning) found some great deals for lunch. Rib platter, Chicken etc. Its out there you just have to print the list and figure it out. Remember T-mom the counter serve is still i full meal your basically getting a fast food combo.

And with an Appetizer, Dinner, and Desert it cant hurt to be a little hungry when dinner rolls around.

Oh, I didn't realize you can get a pastry as your snack for breakfast. I thought it was just popcorn and ice cream, and things like that.

Me too - what are the guidelines on snacks?

^^Since you asked that, i decided to go to WDW.com to check it out. Here's what is says about the snack:

One (1) Snack
Choose from a frozen ice-cream novelty or fruit bar, popcorn scoop (single serving box), single piece of whole fruit, single serving Grab Bag of Frito-Lay's Chips, 20oz. bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or 24oz. Dasani Water, medium fountain soft drink or apple juice. Available at select counter-service and snack-cart locations.

You know, something I had thought of before, and completely forgotten since then, is the idea of taking pre-packaged single serving muffins or something like that to have for breakfast in the room. They're so inexpensive if you buy them at a place that sells items in bulk.

Another idea is to use the counter service for breakfast at Pop Century, have ice cream for lunch (using the snack), and then be nice and hungry for dinner.

This is what my mom and I so far are planning on doing when we go in Sept. It will be my first experience using the dining plan too. We booked our 3 dinners early (4 pm) and we figure if eat breakfast early and use the counter service at Floatworks at POFQ then hit the parks, then hopefully the snack will tide us over for the "big" meal at 4.

At least this is what we're hoping for anyway. :) Who knows what our stomachs will tell us when we're actually there. :)
