You could also maybe, use your CS meal for breakfast, split it. Then use your spouse's CS meal for lunch and split that too. Especially with some of those platters/baskets. I've seen a tip before where you can get a double cheeseburger basket, and then pay for an extra bun (80 cents) and then you've got two burgers.

But I don't know if the Pop Century breakfasts are big enough to share, but if you supplement with something you've brought along, or a piece of fruit or something.

t1mom - the reason I was doing DDE for some meals is that Mr. Cankypants picked most of our meal places and there were a couple that, frankly, I wanted to eat at but wouldn't be getting a whole lot for - like Boma, for example - $25 for my sit-down meal of the day? Not if I can use my already-existing DDE and pay about $20 for it! :) Then use that meal instead for s0meth8ng like Italy (which would have cost us around $80 IIRC), so much more bang for the buck! :)

My mom and I dd the MYW + dining last September and it was too much food. We purchased a light breakfast (pastry) and then used our dining plan for lunch and dinner - we were BEYOND full. If you eat a big breakfast you'll be stuffed by the time lunch rolls around, unless you're used to eating three large meals each day. At most, you'll spend $5 per person on breakfast if you just eat a pastry and get a drink.

You cannot buy a pastry with your snack option.

I kept track of what we would've spent without the dining plan, and it was about $450 total, and we sometimes ate our table service meal at lunch, etc. There really isn't that much of a difference in price at the table service restaurants between lunch and dinner. I wouldn't stress about it, I would just go and have a good time and enjoy the fact that you're hardly paying anything for meals!

^^Thanks for reminding me...I had read that you get a lot of food for the counter service meals, and can share it. That's a great idea to share cs meals, thereby spreading them out.

>>hmmm I couldve sworn I got pastry a couple mornings at the PC food court and it counted as a "Snack".

They let us do this a couple times at CB. We could always get rice crispy treats and sometimes pastries. I think sometimes they are flexible at the resorts. The official policy, though, is not to include pastries.

We tried to get some pastries as snack at Pop Century (trying to spend our snacks on the last day) and they told us no. You can use a pastry for a dessert for lunch though and save it for the next day if that is convenient.

The snacks seem pretty arbitrary. It would be great if they just said "if it is under $3 you can buy it as a snack".

Last year we were there during beginning of the Food and Wine festival and were able to buy lots items there with snack vouchers. We didn't know that in advance.

^^Yeah, I just read a trip report by Mary Waring of mousesavers.com and she said they used a lot of their snack points for snacks at Epcot for the Food and Wine festival. It was a great read. here is the link:

Hey NJFIREGUY, you may be right about getting a pastry for breakfast with the dining plan.

What Can You Get With Snack Credits?
As of May 2006, Disney has expanded the items available with Dining Plan snack credits. Disney is now generally defining a "snack" on the Disney Dining Plan be an item under $4 (pre-tax), edible, non-alcoholic, non-merchandise and non-souvenir. Some items such as pizza slices are excluded.

Snacks can be redeemed at quick service or snack cart locations only. Quick-service and snack cart locations display a "dining plan" logo on their menus indicating items for which you can use your snack credits.

Among the items now available with Dining Plan snack credits:

ice cream novelty
frozen fruit bar
box of popcorn
12 oz soft drink
20 oz Powerade
24 oz bottle of water
piece of fruit
bottled fruit juice
flavored milk
snack-sized bag of chips
ice cream sundaes
ice cream floats
smoothies
nachos
bakery items
Mickey rice krispy treats
Also, during the 2005 Food & Wine Festival, snack credits could be redeemed for most "tasting portions" offered in the booths around World Showcase. Hopefully that will also be true in 2006
