| chickapin Wed 6/28/2006 5:08a | 999-I lost 50 pounds a few years ago (and happily have been able to keep it off) with walking as my exercise. Watching what you eat and lots of walking will do the trick. The other aerobic stuff is great if you can, but don't worry about only walking--it counts! Way to go!

I'm headed to a BBQ tonight, but luckily my throat is too trashed for me to actually do anything except enjoy some water, or maybe some flat Sprite Zero. I'll leave the eating to my DH. lol |

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that its really surprising how quickly your body can get used to doing a bit more, then a bit more excersise, and you'll look back in 6 months and be so surprised at how much more you can do. When I was asked to do the race for life(sponsored 3mile run to raise money for cancer research), I thought I had better try to do some running, I knew I could walk the 3 miles easily, but every time I had gone on the treadmill at the gym, I had people asking if I was ok, as I went so bright red and got out of breath very easily. I saw women who were doing it and making it look much much easier, some of them hardly breaking a sweat!! And some running for 45 minutes!!!!!!! I thought I could never ever do that. 6 months later I ran the 3 miles in 31 minutes, I was fit to drop afterwards and my husband told me my face was the same shade as my hair (dark red) when I passed him. But i was amazed at how I had been able to do it, just by increasing the spead/distance I did VERY gradually.
You're all doing brilliantly. Ive lost 10lb, it has taken me a year but I feel fab. |

| RAM1984 Sat 7/1/2006 9:28p | I did it. I said NO to cake AND ice cream!!!!! That is such a big deal for me. I can do great at home but when someone offers I feel like I have to say yes. Also, this was supposed to be a hot dog lunch so I was worried. Luckily there were beans and salad and a good lasagne so I ate well and avoided the processed meat and bun. More congrats to everyone. I am looking forward to hitting the 10 lb. mark. |
