| RAM1984 Wed 8/9/2006 4:49p | >>And I have found a new way to not eat. My finances are just awful so I have just been not eating because I have no food in the house or money to buy it.<<
When we first moved to Hawaii we were really broke. My hubby and I both got down to the lowest weight we had been since our teens. Not a cookie or ice cream in the house. And when we finally got money what did we do? Bought a cart load of junk food, what else? Really though, I am sorry to hear this and hope things improve. |

| Kennesaw Tom Thu 8/10/2006 5:25a | YEAH for me!!!! I lost 2 lbs last week and so far have lost another 2 lbs this week!!!!
My secret? I have been eating ( and snacking on ) spoon size shreded wheat and bran cereal. I have extremely limited my fat intake, sugar intake, no alcohol. Instead of eating ice cream. I have been eating non-fat cottage cheese. I want to make sure I am still getting some dairy products in me. Oh and for lunch I have been eating tabouli and salads.
So far so good!!!! |

| Kennesaw Tom Thu 8/10/2006 8:08a | Tabouli is incredible!!!! Its so yummy. Why don't they have any at WDW? Let me find a website that shows you what it is.

Its a salad... very few ingredients. Bulger wheat, chopped parsley, lemon juice, diced tomato. You can add different ingredients like onion, garlic if you want. But its very simple to make. |

| LilliBelle Thu 8/10/2006 8:27a | I love Tabouli. I made bulgar with cinnamon and stevia for breakfast this morning. Very yummy and filling. I'm trying to cut down on my sugar and artificial sweetner intake. Stevia is an excellent alternative. I get mine at Trader Joe's. |

| amazedncal2 Thu 8/10/2006 9:07a | Yesterday I got at least a hand or foot back on the wagon. I woke up sooooo motivated, I was going to start counting points, looking at labels etc. and I have to say I did OK. By the end of the day I hadn't actually counted my points but I know enough that what I ate was within a decent range.
I got on an official scale last week at the Dr's office and while I wasn't surprised at the number I saw (which wasn't anywhere near OK) I was surprised when the Dr. said that my triglycerides (sp) number was way too high. The LDL and HDL were finally OK and now this other stupid number. The list of what not to eat pretty much puts me on a diet so here I am.
I'm going to start back with WW and then work into the health stuff while I figure it out.
Of course this week I have 2 birthday parties to attend, next week a wedding and a mini trip to Reno and as you can see I'm already getting cranky about the diet :)
I know I've posted at least once or twice that I'm going to start but this time I really NEED to get back on that wagon. I'm starting with a goal of 5-10 lbs by my sons wedding Oct. 21st. Not so I can fit into a dress or look good, just as a goal.
Thanks for listening :) I'm whiney about this :( |

Right back at ya.
My current whine is the heat. Not only does it make me think about ice cream constantly, it also makes hiking really unpleasant. I like to try to get in at least 2 miles after work, but there's just no way I'm gonna do that when it's 82F at 7 pm.
Of course, in another couple of months, I'll be complaining about the rain and the cold. ;-) |

Hang in there amazedncal2. At social events, it's just important to remember portion control. Your hosts aren't always going to provide something 'healthy', but if you eat in moderation it's better than denying yourself the good stuff. |

| amazedncal2 Thu 8/10/2006 12:32p | I understand what you mean about exercise and the heat alexbook. While we don't go anywhere near a 2 mile hike, we typically walk 45 minutes each morning and the past few weeks it's been more like 30, if that. Looking out at all that sunshine doesn't make me want to put on my walking shoes.
Thanks for the reminder about portion control LacyBelle. I always struggle with that. Tonights party will most likely consist of BBQ chicken breasts and steak with some salads. I'll avoid the potato salad type stuff and rolls and have a reasonable portion of CAKE :)
I'm heading to the office now with a bottle of water and an apple for my afternoon snack. Picturing the cake in my mind :):):) Half a slice of course :):) I hope it's chocolate :):) |
