| RAM1984 Sun 10/29/2006 9:32p | We are all in the same boat here I think; whether we have 10 lbs to lose or 100. Or just want to be healthier.
So, Welcome aboard Blazes. |

| DlandJB Tue 10/31/2006 11:25p | 6 weeks and 20lbs lighter! However, I had a gain this week of .2 pounds...not much, but last week's loss was only .8 so I need to get back to my walking.
ETicket, sorry I haven't been reading this regularly - I hope it is getting better for you. Are you taking advantage of all the "free" veggies? I am eating a lot of veggies with every meal. We go to the Farmer's market every Saturday. I'm especially eating lots of tomatoes. The spray "I can't believe it's not butter" is considered free too. Also the low sodium V8 juice is a big help.
If you only eat their food, you are going to feel hungry. I find that I do feel more hungry on this diet than I did on Atkins, but since you get to eat about every 3 hours (waking hours) I feel like that is helping too. Hang in there!

| ETicket34 Wed 11/1/2006 8:40a | Thanks for the encouragement everyone. So far I am down 7.8 lbs in 5 weeks. That is pretty good. Every day is a new opportunity to make the right choices with the food they eat and the extra activity they do.
I am not feeling as hungry anymore, as I think I am adjusting to the reduced calories. I am eating lots of extra veggies, sugar free jello and pickles (all free foods...yippee)
My new challenge is eating out. I get really nervous about what to choose. I either end up not going or if I do I eat so little that I leave the restaurant frustrated and hungry. It is hard because when you go out with other people they try to enable you to eat. Last Friday we had a co-worker from our New York office come to town. A bunch of us went out to lunch. I chose a small cup of soup to eat while everyone else was eating large burgers and fries (they looked so good) Everyone was telling me "go ahead and splurge..it's the weekend" It was really frustrating to explain to them over and over again that I have splurged for the last 35 years and now it is time to reel it in. I know they do it to make themselves feel better, but it doesn't help. What frustrates me even more is that before I started this new diet plan I was at lunch with one of my co-workers (who was trying to get me to order a burger at the latest lunch) and he made a snide comment about my choice to have a salad for lunch and then have a cream puff from Beard Papa after. How unnerving. I am just thankful that I only have to deal with this at work. I am very lucky to have a supportive husband who is making sacrifices without complaining to help me reach my goal.

| DlandJB Wed 11/1/2006 9:22a | It can be tough at work, that is for certain. Especially around the holidays. I have to do working lunches often. One of the tricks they taught me was to ask for a leftovers container when the food is served and go ahead and put food from the plate into it. I also always ask for substitutions, like if the meal is salmon with rice and veggies, I'll aske them to skip the rice and just bring more veggies. When I do splurge on dessert, I'll split it with someone, so I will eat half a tart instead of the whole thing.
But last night, sitting alone with the candy dish, was very tough!

| ETicket34 Wed 11/1/2006 9:46a | I can imagine last night was tough for many people. I am lucky in that I live in an apartment building in a neighborhood without many kids.
In years past I tried the idea of buying the candy you don't like. Uh, I don't know about you, but there are few if any candies that I don't like. To get out of having to hand out candy I volunteered to work that night (I used to work at The Disney Store). It was fun to see the kids in costume and hand out sticker sheets. |

| LacyBelle Wed 11/1/2006 10:12a | I'm sorry that your co-workers aren't being supportive, ETicket34. It sounds like you are doing well in spite of them -- not giving in. You hit the nail on the head. They probably need to lose weight, don't want to put in the effort, and are afraid of seeing you succeed. It's not right, but it's what happens.
As for me, I'm down 20 lbs since getting back on track in August. Overall, I'm at a 44 lb. loss from my heaviest point 2 years ago. I still have about 20 more to go and I know those will be tough, but I also know I can do it. :-)
Of course, DH & I are leaving for WDW on Friday and got the dining plan. I'm going to try and make good choices, but am not going to fret about it too much. I'm on vacation -- I'll deal with the weight loss again when I get back home.
Hang in there everyone! |

| 999HAUNTS Tue 11/7/2006 7:30a | I'm baaccckkkk!
Wow, I haven't had enough nerve to even read this thread for the last month or so. It's not that I've been bad, just lazy.
Here's my latest excuse: I have been working alot of extra hours so I am exhausted. (Mentally, not physically). By the time I get home I barely have enough energy to make dinner, let alone plan for my lunch the next day. What does this mean? Fast food at lunch. Not a big deal, right? Wrong!
I had gained back another 7 pounds and since I started this thread, I was too embarrassed to join in!
I am happy to report that I have regained my routine and have one more pound to go to where I'm back to the weight I was when I stopped posting here.
SO, long story short, (too late? ha ha) please welcome me back on the wagon.
All in all, I am at 31 pounds lost since I started this thread. Of course, it could have been more if I kept my routine. :( |

| 999HAUNTS Tue 11/7/2006 7:32a | And, reading all of your posts has encouraged me to try harder not to let the holidays tempt me into a downward spiral of Twix bars, brownies and caramel corn. |

| stagemomx3 Tue 11/7/2006 7:38a | I joined WW online Sunday night, hmmm about 24 hours after getting back from Disneyland. This is my second day op and I'm feeling pretty good about things right now. My goal is to reach my 10% weight loss by Christmas! |
