In my humble opinion:

There are many people here who will tell you that everywhere at WDW is fine for kids. I don't agree.

Obviously, Victoria and Albert's doesn't allow kids so that is a no brainer. But also on that list (to me) is The Brown Derby - not great for kids, and Coral Reef - not great for kids. Please note, these two places are awesome, and your kids are welcomed there, but the slowness of the serving and the environment of the other dininers...well I have had a couple of bad expereinces at these two and my kids are very well behaved.

That being said, your money will be wasted at Cinderella's Royal Table Experience or whatever it's called now. It's a rip off since they revamped it. Also 2 and under do NOT eat free there. To me, eating free means being able to order off of the kids menu, for free. At Cinderella's 2 and under get a saucer of plain noodles and water. If you want to order off the kids menu it costs much extra, and they don't get a sword or wand. I am VERY bitter about what they have done to this place...my feelings about it probably rival vbdad's feelings about playgrounds in MK.

Now the other three pre-pay dinner shows, Mickey's Backyard BarBQue, Hoop Dee Do Review, and Spirit of Aloha are awesome awesome for kids, and you should try atleast one of them.

ALL chracter breakfasts are awesome, especially Crystal Palace(MK) and Donald's Breakfastosuarus (AK) which both can get you into the respective parks almost an hour early if you play it right.

The only chracter breakfast that I do not like is the Princess one at Norway in Epcot. The food is terrible for the price you pay for it. That being said, a favoite thing we do is Valet our car at the Grand FLoridian and have the characgter breakfast at 1900 Park Fair, then we leave our car in vallet all day and ride the monorail to the MK. Grand FLa seems to have a lot more room than the COntemporary so I wouldn't try that there at Chef Mickey's.

The Columbia Harbor House fish quality has sank to the lowest of lows and my kids won't eat the fish or the chicken there anymore.

Cosmic Rays is forever and always still a huge hit with my whole family.

There is a new Asian restaurant in the Tomorrowland Plaza, I haven't tried it yet but it sure smells great. LOL

Good luck. Have fun.

The best restaurant for a family in all of WDW is at MGM. The 50's Prime Time Cafe. You will LOVE it! EVERYTHING on the menu is awesome. The chicken is the best anywhere, and the in character experience of the CM's is a lot of fun for adults and kids. This one is a must.

I have done the Hoop De Doo and Spirit of Aloha. I could not get PS at Cinderella's Castle but heard it isn't the best but 1900 Park Fare was great for dinner and Cinderella is there so we are going to try that.

I have done Breakfastosuarus, Chef Mickeys and Cape May. I will agree not crazy about the princess breakfast at Norway.

As for dinner we have been to Sci Fi and 50's prime time. I guess I am looking for not the mainstream dining but really good (a must try).

We were thinking of 50's prime time for the 10th just wanted to make sure there wasn't something differnt anyone thought we should try.

Thanks again

I'm pretty sure vbdad55 loves Biergarten. A great place for reviews of the restaurants is allearsnet.com.

From what I've read on that website, the food is Ok at 50's Prime Time, but the experience is not to be missed (if you get a CM that is in character. Some people state they got a CM that didn't do any of the fun stuff).

I think no matter what restaurant you pick, you will find people that love it, people that hate it, and people that think it was just OK. I originally wanted to eat at Coral Reef, but I've read so many bad reviews that I decided against it. I wasn't going to eat at 50's Prime Time, but decided to give it a try (this fall).

I wasn't going to eat at Boma again, 'cause we already ate there, but decided to eat there again.

It's so hard trying to decide where to eat, isn't it?

I do love the Biergarten and I come from a 100% Germanic family background -
the food is excellent ( served buffet style and those less adventurous there are plenty of recgonizable Chicken - mashed potatoes etc type entrees on the buffet.

Also all will enjoy the entertainment - a real german alpine band - and you get both dance music ( think polkas here) - and Alpine horns and bells - very authentic. There is a large dance floor where they encourage everyone- espcially the kids to come down and do the 'chicken dance' - this occurs every hour so you will participate during your meal.

I prefer theBiergarten for lunch....for dinner they add Sauerbraten and a fish entree to the buffett and the price increases --
good either way but a bargain for lunch IMHO.

The seating is supposed to represent a German Biergarten ( and is themed better than many attractions). Having been to the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, this is way more elaborate, but they did retain the seating arrangement- sort of. You are seated at tables of 8 --

If anyone speaks German ( even a little) all of the waitresses ( and the few waiters there) are from Germany and are fun to talk with.

For our family it is a never miss meal on our trips -- and I give it 4 stars --( and we are very fussy about our German food - Grandma spoiled us )

Beirgarten is Great the Food is Very good and is a buffet so pretty much even the pickiest eaters can find something there.

Its "Family Style Seating" so your going to have strangers at your table. This can be a lot of fun if you get some real out going people :)

Also if your lucky enough to catch the show its a lot of fun and kids seem to really like it.

I never realized what a tough decision this is. I have enough trouble picking counter service places to eat!

the thing is -- with most of your choices you won;t go wrong either way -- there really are a lot of wonderful sit downs at WDW--- my family calls our trip " eating our way thru WDW " - LOL !
