It looks like we will be staying there for sure. Has anyone stayed here? I looked on allears.net to see what the resort looks like. I have one question, is there a food court there? What do they serve? We are getting a studio, so we won't have a kitchen. Also, depending where my room is, is it a long trek to the main pool?

I've not stayed there but I can tell you there is not a food court. They do serve prepackaged stuff in the store there and they do have sandwiches to go at the bar, I believe. And the full service restaurant Olivia's is one of my favorites.

And yes, the resort is quite spread out, so it can be trek from some buildings to the main area (where the pool, restaurant, shop, etc. are).

UGH! I am trying to figure out what to do about counter service meals. I don't know if I will get the dining plan. So, if I am at the resort and want a breakfast or maybe a burger for dinner when I am at the resort, can I get that? Can I get things like that at the to go bar?

I've stayed at OKW (last February) and although I've only been there once it is now one of my favorite Disney resorts.

Doobie is correct about the restaurants, although as I remember the counter service place is next door to the bar; not in it. The counter service place is VERY basic offering hamburgers, hot dogs and other various sandwiches.

Goods to go also has a few basic breakfast items including a scrambled eggs platter for $6.89. I think it is much better to have breakfast at Olivia's though; there you get 'Olivia's Breakfast' for only $7.49 and it includes everything the platter does PLUS a biscuit or toast PLUS table service. Not bad for an extra 60 cents as far as I'm concerned.

We really enjoyed Olivia's, and found that eating a big breakfast there kept us good to go with only snacking until our evening meal.

The resort is very spread out as Doobie mentioned. There are busses that take you to any area of the resort, but that is not terribly convenient at times. If you don't have a car I would request a room close to the main building. We did that at check-in and were told we could have a room right across the street if we were willing to take a third floor room (no elevators). We were willing and it was a great location.

Old Key West seems more relaxed and quiet than most Disney resorts. I always loved coming back from the frenzy at the parks to a place where I could really relax. The grounds are gorgeous and the resort is really well maintained.

If you are a golfer, Old Key West is wrapped around the Lake Buena Vista golf course.

I really enjoyed OKW -- I hope you do to!

I guess I wouldn't worry too much about the food court situation. We find we rarely eat more than breakfast at the resort. You are almost always in a park over the lunch and dinner hours.

We probably dined at OKW more than we do at other resorts just because we liked Olivia's so much. We would often leave the parks and catch a late dinner at Olivia's (open until 10:00 PM).

And yes, you can get both breakfast items and burgers at the counter service place (Good's Food to Go) if that is what you want.

I'm sure you're right about the counter service place. I'm used to sitting in Olivia's and I can see the sandwich offerings in the bar from there, but they're probably just getting them from the counter service place you mention next door.

Do I have to make any type of reservations to dine at Olivia'S?

We never did, but we were there during a slow time of the year. During a peak time it might be a good idea. They seemed to be the busiest at breakfast the time we were there.

We've gone to Olivia's many, many times without reservations. But we have had to wait up until about 30 minutes on occassion. It never hurts to make reservations, but if you don't have them, Olivia's can usually be counted on to take you without much of a wait in my experience.

I've only eaten there for breakfast a couple of times, though (without reservations).

Thanks so much for the info! I am looking forward to staying there. We ended up with a one bedroom with a kitchen instead of the studio.

BTW, is there a store there to buy food items to make in the room? I really don't think I would cook while we are there, but just wondering.
