Avro got to talking about cars from back in the day, and although "the day" may be years diferent for us all, I thought it'd be a great idea to post links to, or just describe the car or cars you remember from childhood.

I'll start with this one.

My aunt used to drive me and my cousins to the Y for swimming in this...back in the day!

Well when I was born my parents had a

78 Datsun and an 79 Town and Country

Through my formative years we had a series of B-Bodies

1984 Pontiac Safari & 1986 Chevrolet Caprice Brougham

1989 & 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Estates

Of course my parents then went through a series of minivans

1992 Mazda MPV AWD (7 Passenger)
1994 GMC Safari AWD
1995 Ford Windstar LX
1998 Ford Windstar LX & Limited
2000 Chevrolet Astro AWD LT
2001 Ford Windstar SEL
2002 GMC Yukon XL with the ever good 6000
2004 Toyota Sienna
2006 Mazda5 (dad's response to high gas prices, now he thinks it's way to small) and 2006 Hyundai Entourage

As you can see my parents never bought practical vehicles and always looked for the fascinating and exotic...

Where to start

My grandma had a '64 Valiant, which she gave me when I was 12 because she could no longer drive. That was a great car! I named "her" Chris, lol!

My parents had...

a Ford Ranchero that the hood would pop up on while driving (good times).

an old Chevy truck with a floor board shifter mounted on the dash.

a Ford? Cortina (Mom would sometimes have to get in with a broom handle when it stopped running on her, can't remember how that fixed it, but it did)

a 1974 Dodge Charger, it was electric blue and when Mom dropped me off at school one of the boys called her "Hot Rod Momma" (probably because she could 'peel out' of the parking lot in it).

The best one we didn't have for long, it was a 1970 (I believe) Dodge Challenger that was Purple with a white top. If I could find a car like that in running shape at a price I could justify it would be MINE!

This was the first car I remember the family owning when I was a child. Ours was lime green, fresh from the factory.

My mom drove this car until I was into my teens. Ours was royal blue and had power windows and seats - pretty fancy for 1955:

I can remember my parents also had:

An early 60's Ford Falcon
A 1970 big red station wagon (most likely a Ford). Got that after the Chrysler died.
A robin's egg blue 1967 Ford Galaxy 500 convertible (my bother now has this car and has restored it to like new condition)
A dark green w/white vinyl top 1969 Lincoln Continental Mark III.

They bought us a "kids car" to share when all 3 sisters were in high school. It was a light blue Ford Fairlane (maybe a '69?) with white vinyl top and tires with raised white letters . Oh yeah, we were cool.

I heard Chris is afraid of high gas prices and will rent a Yaris for his next DVC vacation.

The really excellent ones go anywhere from $30,000 upwards of $75,000!

Officerminnie, wow that would be the sweetest riiiiide nowadays! I would love to put my kids in one of those and cruise down to WDW with the windows down, during the day, stopping at various tourist traps and just taking hours to get there!

I would want mine white where that one is white, and like a soft (BelAir) type blue where that one is black. Ofcourse white leather inside would do but yeah i doubt there are many of those nowadays.
