Yes. They are. Many of the MK's decorations date back to when it was the only park at WDW!
Management doesn't see the need to invest any money ... same reason why the Country Bear Christmas Show won't play this year. Or the fact you have to pay an extra $40 to see the Christmas Parade unless you wait for Christmas week.
<<Seriously, those decorations are just sad. >>
Oh Westsider, you are a kindred spirit!!!
<<At WDW it looks like they spent about 40 bucks total to do Main Street. If I can be generous I would say 50 bucks tops, and obviously someone went to a sale at an Orlando Wal-Mart. >>
Well, management feels it's guests are all WalMart shoppers anyway so why not ... even the amazing resort displays have been cut back the past few years ... Yacht Club lost its cityscape and WL lost the train that went around the tree and the gingerbread house.
But again, why bother when the guests would accept a twig with a Tink ornament?

This post was in response to No. 8 ... although it would fit Westsider's too!

I have nothing to add. It's just nice to see other people notice.

| SingleParkPassholder Sat 12/2/2006 9:20p | My wife and I got back late this afternoon after spending the last week at Walt Disney World. We arrived 11/25 and got back today, 12/2. We were very much underwhelmed by the Christmas decorations all over the entire resort, much less the Magic Kingdom. Maybe we're spoiled by how over the top Anaheim does it, but we were conditioned to expect so much more from Orlando. In case anyone cares, as of last night, 12/1, the garland along Main Street was gone. This may be due to the Chriatmas Day/Regis filming (a silly exercise unto itself), but nonetheless, gone. |

| dresswhites Sat 12/2/2006 11:34p | i have only been to WDW once. i went a day or so after new years. does wdw have a christmas parade? when i was there the only parades they had where the snow globe parade and spectromagic. (though i did like spectromagic.) also do they do a christmas fireworks show like at disneyland? i do recall that i was a bit underwhelmed by the holiday decor. like others have said perhaps i was spoiled by disneyland's efforts. . |

| Doobie Sun 12/3/2006 7:24a | MK has a Christmas parade, I believe, starting Christmas (maybe the week before). Until then it's only run during the after hours party.
I completely agree, compared to DL, MK's decorations are underwhelming. But I think overall Christmas at the other parks is very much on par (Epcot - Storytellings and Illuminations finale, MGM - Osborne and Christmas Parade, DAK - Christmas Parade) plus the resorts are all on par. Disneyland made a decision a few years ago to do Christmas really well in their parks and I'd love to see MK follow suit. But I think the other parks are in good Christmas shape.
