<<< Now large is always available, AND they even sometimes have those super-super sized drinks (like a quart or something!). >>>

A quart? Are you kidding? For those of you who are Imperially-challenged, a quart is a quarter-gallon, or 32 ounces. A "standard" extra-large soft beverage in the US now seems to be 44 ounces. You're thinking on a much too small scale, Mr X.

Sorry...half-gallon?

Anyway, pretty much the same size as a 7-11 double gulp, however much that is.

I never buy it, cause I figure I can pick up a 2 liter coke at the supermarket much cheaper.

Wow, TDLFAN, I'm surprised. Most Japanese I've talked to consider Mos to be THE best fast food hamburger joint around!

Parisian? First Kitchen? or Freshness Burger (freshness IS quite good, if that's the place you're talking about)?

Other than that, I can't think of any others.

Okay, just had a mega-mac (with large fries and large drink, of course ;p) for lunch.

Only difference is double beef, no extra cheese or anything else.

It was okay, slightly better than a regular big mac because it's more "beefy" tasting (regular big macs have to much bread and sauce taste imo).

However, VERY messy and hard to bite into (my sandwich almost fell apart on me).

All in all, nothing special. I was surprised to see that a LOT of people seemed to be ordering them though, especially given the high price (mega-mac by itself is 350 yen, 650 for the meal...700 for the super size).

Oh, how I dream of Mos-burger! There is one that's walking distance from the Hotel Universe and I just have to go there every time I'm in Kayabacho.

X, do you remember the drink called Pokka? I think that's the name. It was juice with the fruit inside the can--like the grape juice (green grapes, of course) and there were real peeled grapes inside the can? I almost barfed the first time one of them slipped out of the can into my mouth--thought it was some guy's eyeball.

I nominate this as "post of the day." I now have to wipe down my monitor because of my reaction to the above :-)

I think it's time to review the standard 7-11 fountain soft drink units of measure:

Gulp: 20 ounces
Big Gulp: 32 ounces
Super Big Gulp: 44 ounces
Double Gulp: 64 ounces

<<< I never buy it, cause I figure I can pick up a 2 liter coke at the supermarket much cheaper. >>>

Well then, you're completely missing the point. First of all, let me point out that for the purposes of my discussion, I'm talking about the sweet nectar that is Diet Coke. At least in the US, DC has a different formula when served from a fountain as opposed to a can or bottle: the can or bottle version has aspartame (aka "NutraSweet") as its only sweetener, but the fountain version still has saccharine as the primary sweetener. One possible reason for this disparity is that saccharine has a "cancer warning" labeling requirement in the US, which probably looks bad when printed on a retail can or bottle, but there's no such labeling requirement when it's served on tap in a restaurant or consumer self-serve location such as 7-11. The saccharine-sweetened version definately tastes better.

Interesting, but irrelevant to me since I think diet coke is gross.

I assume that with REAL coke they use SUGAR, in both cases? Works for me. :D

I'm sure that this is because you keep anything that is known to cause cancer from going past your lips. For those of us without such a hangup, Diet Coke is the holy grail of beverages.

I don't care for Diet Coke in the USA, but in Japan, the formula is different and tastes much much better. That and Fanta Grape, or Kirin Melon... those sodas rock!
