I believe Dreamlights came in around that amount when it was launched in '01. I suspect it would be considerably more now as LED technology isn't cheap and guests will be expecting something bigger and better in Tokyo. When you think that Mythica was around $30m and see exactly what OLC got for that buck it shows how expensive it is to develop these large scale shows out there. |

March 17: Return of Dreamlights, with new floats
March 29: Opening of retooled Sindbad attraction
April 10: Start of Find Stitch! special event
April 28: Return of Space Mountain, with changes
Of course, the sensible thing would be to wait until April 28, but that's right at the beginning of Golden Week, and the resort will certainly be packed then. So now we're talking May. What's a fanboy to do? I think I might go during the middle of April so that I can see the cherry blossoms in full bloom - imagine that, going all the way to Japan and doing something else in addition to visiting TDR? |

Not sure if you saw it last year SD but I'd scratch it from that list. It is not the best special event ever held by TDL by a long shot. |

As for the changes to Dreamlights... I am glad the Bugs Life float is going. Personally I would pull Woody's as well. They just don't measure up to the rest of the parade. I am however disappointed by the retirement of the Fairy Godmother float which to me had an element of magic and transformation worth of the scene. Of course, I welcome any new additions as well and that should be nice. I am disappointed of course by the "lack of budget" situation to have a totally new parade in place for the 25th. So I guess we can expect more dumbing down of the experience as they do at WDW, which is not good at all for the long term. Gee, did Greer cause that much mentality damage when he was there??? ..and here I thought thinking that a brand new Princess Parade this year was the beginning of renwed commitment from OLC to give something special to the fans. Oh well.. at least the parks will look pretty based on how much of it is uunder refurbishing right now. |

Since it's one of those with the three parade stops, and each unit reportedly doing different things at each stop, it seems that there's a whole lot to see and I only saw a small part of it. Plus, didn't it get a TDLFAN 5-star rating? |

Did you enjoy the design asthetics of it SD? I applaud the energy of the show but the overall look just left me perplexed. |

Perhaps I should explain a little about the role of WDAJ at TDR. Ultimately they have very little input into the attraction and entertainment product. OLC contracts directly with WDI/DCE to create the product. They are effectively guardians of the Disney brand and are there to make sure that everything from custodial to F&B to merchandise to special events (ie. those mounted by E! Entertainment) have the look and feel that people expect from Disney. |

This Season of the heart and Princess event features very nice animated portraits of the characters, but then again... they all have been excellent quality animation material at TDR. |

Merchandise is a very complicated area for TDR. Ultimately the look is determined by Disney (and the unit is headed by Marc Delle I believe still who is also a well-known Disney sculptor in his own right) but the product line-up is the responsibility of OLC.
I probably haven't explained that well. |

| TDLFAN Sat 2/3/2007 11:50a | Well I was talking more about the artwork that graces the merchandise... it's always delicate and elegant the way they portray the characters for the different special events. The current "Minnie Angel of the Sea" artwork on the merchandise line is gloriously elegant and portrays Minnie in a most positive light. |
