Wait...so you're saying they actually do pick out specific kinds of people and it's not really random? So a single person or a local is not supposed to win? |

Certain prizes are geared for a particular age range of guest and therefore there is some selection. For other prizes it isn't so much that other people aren't supposed to win but the squads receive guidance as to key indicators of vacationing couples/families/extended groups. It is easier at WDW due to the smaller AP base so it isn't so much of an issue but DLR has put a lot of thought into the selection of winners to prevent locals/APers hounding the squads (which has happened a lot) or visiting daily to get a big prize. That said you can't account for everything (like what about "in-the-know" vacationing families seeking out the squads?).
One thing I was surprised about was that the squad CMs tend to remain on stage with their bags even after they have exhausted their booty (as far as I could make out). I would have thought stage managers would have pulled them backstage to redress. |

Yes. So the traditional family of four (usually white with a boy dressed like a pirate and a girl dressed like Aurora) get freebies, but the senior couple get nothing, the teens out by themselves get nothing, the gay couple get nothing, the adult sister visting by themselves get nothing etc ...
Gee, talk about your magic.
You can get a dream, but only if you fit into a target demo.
What BS!
