I think Lee meant that if parks share the entertainment, that the budgets for shows and parades will be larger, so the scope will be bigger. Well, maybe not scope, but more money will be spent, which hopefully means quality. I don't mind sharing too much, as long as the quality is the same accross the board, and even if effects or something has to be dropped to to location, there should be something to make up for it. Cinderellabration is a good example of how not to do it.

The budget will be larger if paid by OLC. Let's not kid ourselves.

^^ <<Good question. I've not heard anything about the floats being repurposed elsewhere. Would be a great parade for MK though. :-)>>

Lee, anything would be a better parade then the the crap they have there now!

You and TDLFAN on a float debating about the merits of TDS would be vastly more entertaining than what's there now ;-)

<<This recycling thing...do you know where that is coming from- Jay Rasulo, DCE, Anne Hamburger, Steven Davison? >>

I have heard that it is Hamburger largely with Rasulo's blessing (naturally).

I know the head of DLP entertainment had a battle explaining to Anne why what worked in the US parks wouldn't translate to European audiences.

I'm not against recycling, perse. But it should also be where it's a good fit and used sparingly with new product created as well.

That's why I have some concerns about Block Party Bash coming to FLA next spring.

I would love to see HKDL's "Mickey's Waterworks Parade" at WDW and TDL as well... THAT would be neat,
(and you can see my photos/report from that parade in the HKDL section NOW)

I so agree. Where it is appropriate and how it is done is what matters.

And what works for one audience (culturally, in particular) needs to be considered as well. Great that you brought that up...at first, it didn't quite cross my mind.

I wonder what he said to Anne- was this regarding the new parade they developed for the 15th, or farther back?
what doesn't work for Europeans compared to US audiences?

The Waterworks parade at HKDL is fantastic, and Steve and his team at DCE did a great job with it. I can see that working almost anywhere where weather conditions and how audiences feel about getting wet works.

I think with MK right now, and WDW as a whole, is that much of their entertainment has been done on their own with their own entertainment team in Florida. Anne Hamburger has gotten her feet wet there with the Nemo musical, and surprisingly it has been a hit (which is a good thing). But I don't think any of the parks have gotten the Steven Davison and team "touch" in terms of parades and big spectaculars created by his team at DCE (expect Wishes and special event fireworks at MK).
I guess we will see with Block Party Bash, but that's more so how WDW and their team puts it on, and is the quality all around going to be on par with their DLR counterparts (who excel on those grounds).

I find that very hard to accept - Annie has always believed in reusing product sparingly but with local touches (like HKDL). It also wouldn't make sense why the former VP of Spectacles at DLP is now running the show at WDW.

^^Francois is now working in O-Town?

I thought he had said he was going after the 15th. Maybe I misunderstood and he meant after the celeb began.

And I won't go into conversation specifics, but he was quite adament that some of the folks in power (and Anne was specifically referenced) had difficulty understanding why what works for one audience would fall flat for another.

^^ Honestly Spirit take it from me that that couldn't be further from the truth. Annie understands the local conditions entirely.

Francois switched in WDW straight after the 15th kick-off in April. He is already making a lot of (hopefully good) changes down there to how the non-DCE product is developed and produced and how DCE interact with the resort. Hopefully it will be good to have a character as strong as him down there.

^What was Francois responsible for developing in Paris Leemac?

Do you know roughly what he sees wrong with WDW or what could be better, and what he wants to do there?
