| tcsnwhite Sat 8/25/2007 9:33p | <<Ultimately DLP has consistently had some of the best entertainment around and often put together on very small budgets. Some of that credit can go to the infrastructure that the parks has (definitely the best theatres of all of the MK parks) but it really comes down to the invention that the entertainment team show. Sadly with product like Cinderellabration at MK the WDW local team has not shown the same type of creativity and ingenuity. Francois will definitely be a breath of fresh air down there.>>
The only issue I have Lee is that DLP tends to not be consistent when it comes to casting performers in its newest parade. Again, I am only judging on videos, but there seems to be different amounts of performers each time, or too many missing from time to time. I would think it would be easy to keep the newest, grandest parade cast to the standard it was set at. Other than that, the show stops needs work, and I think POD's show stop is considerly stronger. The parade also doesn't have really enough performers inbetween each unit (feels very empty), and the spacing is off and it shows in the show stops.
Didn't mean to really write that little review, but I have issues with DLP's 'consistency' in entertainment.
WDW has issues, to me, in that the performers need to be given better work/choreography and the energy and professionalism/skill needs a major kick in the rear- and again, I compare that to their counterparts at DLR in CA. If anything, I would have sent someone from the DLR to makeover WDW's entertainment dept. , but I hope Francois can prove me wrong. But I have my reservations... |

Coincidentally, that is the same issue I have with their parks' cleanliness.

Well two of the three choices there share the same composer. Gavin Greenaway is tremendously talented (although oddly enough his cinematic work is limited to conducting rather than composing) and his work on both BraviSEAmo and IllumiNations is incredible. Personally I think the Epcot show is still the finest out there. Mythica is a close second.
BraviSEAmo had such a painful gestation that I'm amazed it is still out there. Yves Pepin (the French director) just refused point-blank to work with anyone including the DCE/OLC team that hired him. It was a frustrating experience for all and I think the final product reflects his vision - all style and no substance. Not even Gavin's music can save that one. |

| leemac Mon 8/27/2007 11:36a | tcsnwhite your comments are fairly accurate. I was quite surprised recently to be out in DLP (I tend to avoid the place in the summer but had little choice this time) and took in the parade either twice or three times in successive days. There was a big difference in the number of performers which surprised me greatly for peak season. Also the floats continue to stop in almost random spots despite a large number of logistics CMs there to assist with parking. I do like the stop mode (I prefer it to the Welcome segment in the DL parade) and the interaction between the characters is pretty humorous (particularly the Peter Pan sequence).
It was also strange to see the full Disneyland letters for Alpha Bet You Are on a Friday but on a Saturday it was restricted to just the letters "Disney". |

| gurgitoy2 Tue 8/28/2007 7:21a | Maybe they should go for a "Fantasmic!" type show? They could use the characters that are specific to TDS too. |

| Malin Tue 8/28/2007 2:46p | What ever it gets replaced with,I bet the characters will have a bigger interaction than just the brief introduction from Mickey at the start to BraviSEAmo.
By the way I find your coments on the new Disneyland Paris parade interesting.I was speaking to a performer who's in this parade the other day and while the general impression is that its well liked but its aparently absolutely mayhem backstage. So much in fact he's amazed it ends up coming together so well each day its performed. |
