Welcome back to This Week in Hong Kong Disneyland. Many columns would have given up on a slow week, but contrary to popular demand we press on! Always pressing on with thoughts of pineapples constantly in our collective heads. We've got something about MICE and team work, and just to get our site stats up some Twins posing with animals.

| Loomis Mon 2/4/2008 3:45a | The column you love to love is back and focusing on the two things we know you all want - trip reports and toilets. As Chinese New Year approaches, we have not one but three trip reports and even more photos of things around the park.

| Loomis Mon 2/11/2008 12:40a | There is a lot going on This Week in Hong Kong Disneyland. So much in fact, that we barely need to promote it - Chinese New Year Day Parade Photos guest starring Bill Ernest; a trip report from our Chief Spy; a look at the Muppet Mobile Labs; a Valentine's Day glimpse and a stack of construction photos. Speaking of photos, we've added almost 200 of those as well. The week has only just begun!

| FerretAfros Mon 3/31/2008 10:51a | Hmmm. That's very interesting. I'm still not sure how I feel about all the characters, but some bother me more than others. Cinderella and her Prince don't really add anything to the scene at all, because they just stand there waving at the passing boats. At least the others are kind of positioned to work with the general idea that they're all doing the same motions.
It looks like they took a hint from Paris and went with the one big room (check out the background of the Japan picture). I think that's probably better, but there still seem to be some small spaces. A lot of it looks like it's a direct lift from DL (Africa room is only missing elephant head, underwater is the same), but still quite different. I don't know if it's just for the pictures or not, but it looks a lot darker than the other versions. It also looks like there may not be as many dolls, but that could just be the way the photos were taken.
I really like the facade, but it's a little weird to see it without the ride coming outside too. It looks like you will go downstairs to board, and that area will be semi-outdoors. I like the intent of the entrance structure, but it looks like it might need a little bit of detailing to fit in with the whole facade.
And of course, great update! |

It also looks like it will have black lights, which is an interesting addition. Anybody know if they have anything else from South America (and since when is Pocahontas's Virginia part of Canada?) |

| SuperDry Mon 3/31/2008 3:03p | I'm surprisingly impressed by the pictures. The Disney characters don't seem at all out of place, although because of this I'm not sure just how effective their iasw appearance is going to be in making them more familiar to the mainland Chinese guests. |

| Witches of Morva Mon 3/31/2008 3:28p | ORWEN: I think the way they handled the Disney characters makes it look more like they're just the regular Small World dolls playing 'dress up' and that they just happened to choose the Disney characters as their roll models. Isn't that what most children do?
ORGOCH: Heck! I know a few adults that still play 'dress up', fer Pete's Dragon's sake! Some of 'em even live under the same roof with me!! |
