For my upcoming trip, my travel partner has received a suggestion from a more experienced traveler that says you can really do both parks well in 3 days instead of 4. Is this true?

I'd say yes, depending on crowds (it can get extremely crowded at TDL especially).

If it's offseason, definitely. Unfortunately, to get the parkhopper you must go to the parks 3 days in a row. Not too much flexibility.

I wonder why they don't allow the flexibility to miss a day or two? We're now debating how many days and what part of the week. How is the beginning of the week vs the end of the week for crowds in general?

If it is your first time and you really want to do most of the attractions and see a lot of the shows and parades, I would say 3 days is not enough.

If any of the 3 days is a weekend I would say you need a 4th day for sure.

You said you wanted to have extra time while at HKDL to take pictures videos. If that is also the case for TDR, you for sure would want a fourth day.

And like Mr X said, if your days are not consecutive, you will not be able to park hop and will limited to just one day in one park and two days in the other.

Weekends and holidays are busy, obviously. Aside from that, I believe TDL can be very busy on Mondays.

I'd say for a 3 day you might want to plan Tues - Thurs, or Wed - Fri.

As for park hopping, honestly my view is it's not that important in Tokyo (not like Florida, anyway). The parks are pretty far from each other and it takes some time to move around.

Honestly, I'd recommend just buying 3 single day tickets. That way, you have flexibility if it's a rainy day or you just want to do something else. You can do DisneySea one day, the TDL, and on the 3rd day just decide which park you want to return to.

On a slow day, you really can experience most of what DisneySea has to offer in just 1 day.

I agree with Roger. Asssuming you are going to be taking photos and video at the same rate as you will at HKDL, I'd say you'll definitely need four.

To buy three single day tickets is more expensive than a 4 day magic passport. Didn't we just talk aboult this on another topic?!?!
one day = 5,800 yen
four day = 15,000 yen

Wow. I didn't realize that.

Well, in that case definitely go with the 4 day. :)

Mr X, shame on you for not knowing that!! Everyone knows 4-day at TDR is a great value and certainly worth every minute of those 4 days at those two parks.

I'm sure that's true.

But being local, I can't devote 4 days to the parks in one week, let alone four CONSECUTIVE days.

That's the part that really burns me, is the inflexibility. I mean, if it was good for even 6 or 7 days from the "start" I think that'd be great...but who really knows what's going to happen 4 days in a row!?

You might not feel too well on a particular day, or there might be torrential rains, or you might just want to space things out a bit.

The inflexibility really bothers me, honestly. And if it were a bit more flexible, I can honestly say that over the years I'd probably have bought 5-10 of those passes myself! (I'm sure OLC doesn't care about MY revenue though lol)

Just my 2 cents, anyway. It does sound like a better value (parkhopping in Tokyo is tough anyway, and that's one of the few ways to do it!).
