I didn't want to like this. I was disappointed when I heard that El Rio was getting a character overlay but I have to say I enjoyed it. A little girl about 8 or 9 years old in the row behind me asked her parents if they could ride again. And with the holiday crowds we probably waited about 15 - 20 in the queue. Its become a travelogue through Mexico with Panchito and Jose as well as Donald as a type of guide. We experience Mexico by watching their experiences during their adventure.

The screens are incredibly crisp with vibrant colors that don't really show up well in the stills and I felt the balance of the previous content and the new additions fit together well.

I was disappointed that in the finale room the flat city skyline was still there. I was hoping that it might have received an upgrade but on the flip side the street hawkers are not there. I was happy to see the cliff divers are still there and the opening sequence as we float alongside the pyramid is largely unchanged.

Obviously the song Three Caballeros is heard in the attraction and while I enjoyed that ... I miss the peppy little tune that I would find myself mindless humming after my river ride through time.

Rebekah.

I am so glad that after 25 years El Rio Del Tiempo was exciting to me again. Now that its the Gran Fiesta Tour & it includes characters Donald, Jose, & Panchito so you know the attraction is really good now.

I also was not thrilled when I heard this, but the old show had become just that -- old. Now watching the video it will appear more to kids ( and Donald fans like me ) - but at least it will be bright and cheery.

I watched twice - are the cliff diving shots new ( I hope so) or the old ones ?

Rebekah, from the video, the attraction appears to be alot of fun. It also seems like it would be a natural fit in California Adventure. Based on the size and layout of the ride, could you comment on whether it could possibly be fitted in anywhere in DCA?

I'm sure that the layout could be reconfigured, but the general impression that I've always gotten on that ride is that they did a lot with not much space. The projections add a lot of depth to what would otherwise be fairly small show scenes. Just looking at the building on Google Earth, it looks like it's about 160 feet wide, and about 335 feet deep, but divided up so it looks like the ride area may be closer to only 160 feel deep. Either way, that's a fairly small footprint (for a reference, the big turn on Screamin' near the station is also about 160 feet across), so I'm sure it could fit. I would suggest that they change the theme from generic Mexico to what California looked like when it was part of Mexico, but it could work. I'd be a little more concerned about how the audience would feel about it, but I think it would fit in really well, and would totally add to the park.

Donde esta Nemo, uh I mean, donde esta Donald? Lots of Mexico City footage. I hope this ride not only does well but it sends lots of people to Mexico City. Oh, and by the way if your looking to go to Mexico City I know a really good travel agent. I've known him so long I've know him since the day I was born!! Did I mention my Dad owns a Travel Company in Mexico City??

I will reserve final judgment until riding, but I am quite disappointed they have eliminated the fog in the entry tunnel and removed the Mayan figure hologram at the start, both expensive effects.
