What I love is that they did not entirely switch it over to being a POTC environment but kept Tom & Huck evident. Cute how they "covered" the sign for Tom Sawyer's Island with the Pirates Lair one. Have to get over there to get one of the maps before they disappear. "- D Wicked cool photos! Have to go everywhere now just to see where all the shots were taken! One "-( note? The handsome rogue in the shots from the Lafitte's Tavern show is a bad guy and he gets stuffed in a chest! Oh, poo! |

| dresswhites Sat 6/9/2007 8:14p | got a chance to go over to pirates lair, this past thursday. i liked it. they really didn't change it too tremendously, just added some new eye candy and interactive features. so the feel of the island and what makes it a unique attraction hasn't changed. you still climb through caves and climb a treehouse with a spetacular view and cross the rickety bridges. the only thing missing is the fort, which has been closed for several years now. i think they did a good job. and they haven't abonded the western aspects of the river, i think the new cabin with the horse is a nice scene. better than looking at the empty cabin of the last 8 or 9 years. Also i noticed that the beaver cutting down the tree is missing, but i saw 4 or 5 swimming around in that area. Are these new? have they always been there? do you know if the beaver cutting the tree and the bear scractching are coming back? |

| dresswhites Sun 6/10/2007 9:50p | there does seem to be alot of people heading over there. not lines and lines of people, which is good cause that means there are still some quiet spots to just sit and watch the world go by. |

Those beavers tend to behave like wild animals! When all of them are around, it's a lively pond. I am sure that the one cutting the tree will be back, along with all the other wildlife.
If you want to see the fort one last time, better do it as quickly as possible. I'm only sayin'... |

And like everyone says, the island is certainly taking people off the streets because the guest counts are like 5 times what they were for TSI at this time last summer. |
