Granted that I may not be understanding what you are saying but in my mind it is simple. The East Coast is some 3000 miles for the West Coast. Many people could never ever afford to go to California or vise versa. Also consider what would happen if all the people that visit WDW decided to converge upon DL. I think it would be pretty crowded.
I, for one, feel the duplication is necessary and useful. I don't care if Soarin' is in California as well as here. I will never be going to California again and I would like to enjoy it when ever I can. |

| twirlnhurl Sat 6/16/2007 8:16p | So the Mona Lisa reminds you of WalMart because it has been photocopied so many times? Come on. Epcot is not a perfect park, but the only clone the park has is Soarin'. Everything else mentioned is cloned somewhere else. I doubt you think DL is comparable to WalMart because most of it's rides are cloned at Magic Kingdom, Tokyo, and Paris. Hell, you probably don't think it is comparable to WalMart even though it is the one that received all those clones you mentioned from Epcot.
Wow, I realized after writing this how stupid and pointless this argument is. The "you" I was saying was referred to no one in particular. There are better things to talk about in this thread. |

MPierce earns the first 'The Spirit Moves Me To the Magic!' tee ... just as soon as I get a batch made up.
The rest of you: 'sorry, losers. better luck next time!'

<<Uhm ... Honey, I Shrunk the Audience? Innoventions? Even almost all of Nemo is in the subs, isn't it?>>
<<All copies... WDW was first.>>
Yeah. But they're still clones.
And Nemo, for instance, was developed for the DL subs even if the Nemo clams opened first.

And incase you care, Epcot is the AP favorite of WDW. |

why do I bother? ... yeah, DL the park has an ego and it needs boosting by beating other parks out for attractions. wow!
But your facts aren't correct. The effects were developed for DL largely and repurposed (in a much cheaper setting) for Epcot.
<<And incase you care, Epcot is the AP favorite of WDW. >>
And how do you know this? Did you do a survey? Did Disney release this data? I don't doubt that's true, largely because I'm sure locals and frequent visitors who have APs would be more likely to visit Epcot due to its larger scale, greater food and beverage and shopping options and seasonal events as opposed to say the tired, stale, poorly maintained MK.
But, again, I haven't see anything official that says Epcot is the fave of APers. |

Agreed. TLS had other upgrade plans in store for it. It was DL's preliminary activity that led to an East Coast justification. |

Any attraction I haven't seen is new to me and I don't care if it is in DL or WDW or any or all of the other theme park clones that followed DL. So what? |

I would wager that the number of people who regularly visit both east and west coast parks (like me and many others here) is extremely small. I'd rather the parks have mostly unique rides. But a barnburner like Soarin'? I'm very happy that I can ride it on both coasts!
