A big hello to everyone, I īm new around here (2 days new) and am so glad I found my way here! I īm from l.a. but have been living out of the states for 14 years. I īve been a disney freak all my life and this page is just what I needed... I īm not alone anymore!:D
I haven īt been on SM for 6 long years. Last summer I visited DL with my hubby, it was his first time, we got our fast passes for SM so it would be our last ride for the night... and lo and behold when we got to the entrance it had been closed down! AAA!! A bit disappointed we were.
My question is, although it īs an old subject, what changes were done on the ride?.. effects?.. tracks?.. music?
Thanks for the info!

Welcome... I'm sure you will find many of us are just as much or even more of a Disney freak than you are! hahaha!

Space Mountain at DL was found to have some serious structural problems and was closed to be completly rebuilt. The mountain was completely gutted and the new track and effects were built from the ground up.

Although the new track was built with the exact same layout as the old track, several changes were also installed.

A new soundtrack was created. New lighting and visual effects were added. They also installed alternate sound and visual effects to create the infamous Rockin' Space Mountain. The alternate "show" was first switched on for Grad nights last year and eventually for the general public up until April of this year when it was turned off and SM was retured back to the normal version.

I'm sure if you search back through the archieves you can find more detailed descriptions of the changes installed into SM.
