The <Something> Family... I thought it was great when I was 7, I guess it was if I still remember the song now.
They showed how to make crafts and stuff. There was usually a segment about some animals, too.

correct! I never really grew attached to Sesame Street. I liked Patchwork Family better, and I suppose I was just the right age for it.
